not so Alive Art

21st August 2010, Saturday. daddy agreed to bring us to the Alive Art that i had been wanting to check out. Sadly the entrance fee had addition $1 charge for handling fee... didnt make us very happy with that. then upon entering, as usual gx love to slowly appreciate whatever is on the board and he took his time to watch the video and read the board. i took the chance to take a shot of the art chart that was on display and i was took NO PHOTOGRAPHY. i was not very happy with that and when we gave our tickets to the usher, i was told another not pleasing to my ears piece of news... no photography in the exhibition hall except for 2 photography spots.

this was not what i expected. NO PHOTOGRAPHY? why! WHY? whY!? these are not real works and they are reprical and i would expect to have a chance to be near the art, to be able to appreciate it and of cos take some shots with it! even when i was at the Lourve, most of the art work, we could take pics with it! yes alive art there were interesting live art scenes where they make the art move, make the art explain, make the art interesting, it was good and i liked it but i wish there more art work on display, i really had too high an expectation i guess.

well... yes i took shots of the expression my gal had. she wasnt that scared as we walked into the primative area where it was dark. love the way the egyptian art was explained. i liked the 3D roman scupltures' conversion skit. i miss David. my majestic David. Will i ever go back to Florence to see David? my gal loves the stained glass animation. she watched it 5times or more! she didnt want to walk away from the display! she loved the colours i guess!

******

they didnt bring the whole Sistine Chapel to this exhibition. they had a slide where Micheanglo stop painting and spoke about his artwork. the image wasnt clear. they may have restrictions with the Sistine chapel painting due to the rights? sadly art can't be shared freely. its expensive to view art. art is priceless. i will never forget all that i saw in Vatican City, esp the ceiling, the walls of Sistine Chapel. I enjoyed my Europe trip where i went to Van Gogh Museum and to the Lourve where i saw many sculptures and of cos the famous Mona Lisa. i want to go back to Florence one day to see David again. To Milan to see The Last Supper which i did not see. to Spain to see Picasso's work. i am dreaming.

seriuosly with such restrictions on "fake" painting, i dun see how alive these art become close to the people.

we came to our 1st stop where we were allowed to take pics.

not sure who's painting is this. sad right, maybe i was not in the right mood to view most of the art work after hearing no photography! i wasnt that excited to take photos in this walk-in similiar set-up to the painting... maybe cos i dun know this painting. baby r had a good time walking about in this painting thou, one good thing that happened. she posed for daddy and she made alot of expressions!

daddy tried to put baby r on his shoulders and "KOCK!" loud sound made from baby R's head hitting the top of the fake art frame! baby R burst into her loud cry! must have hurt alot! thank goodness no blood! but she recovered quickly when we played peek-a-boo with her to make her laugh! when we took couple shot together, we left baby r out of the frame, she kept trying to walk in to join us but lucky we still managed to get a shot of just 2 of us and i had to crop her out of the pics with the couple shot taken at Van Gogh's painting.

there were a few other paintings and there were explanations given by the painting itself. the one that attracted alot of people esp the kids was of cos the Mona Lisa. you can ask her some questions and she will answer back. 2 irritating kids bugged her with so many questions that Mona Lisa rejected answering them waving her hands at them and ask them to let others have a chance to ask her questions. there were 6 suggested questions on the wall. i found the Last Supper painting explanation exhibit quite interesting but we both had trouble with our little one. she was so pipi. she struggled to get to the floor and she threw tantrum when we each took turn to hold her hand. she didnt want to be restricted and she wanted to run on her own... when she was stopped she sat on the floor and make a scene... we were both hopping mad with her! daddy was really pissed when there was a girl who came over and she sat on the floor and started to roll over! she is one of the irritating gal at Mona Lisa and she is not a toddler, she is a child prob 9years old.... gosh a very bad example for our gal as she tried to follow what the gal did!

the Van Gogh's painting set up was better than the 1st picture spot cos i like this so much better! funny thing is the people in-charge seriously go by the book and expect people to only take photo with their suggested spot and expect one shot will do... alot of the visitors like us wanted to take more than one shot and we did. after all there are only 2 stops for photography!

baby R was alittle better behaved when we took a break to go change her diaper. we told her she wasnt a good behaved gal and she needed to be better... returning to the gallery, i saw another favourite art piece -  the girl with the pearl earrings. think 2-3 years ago when i started reading books ET lent me and i read about this painting's story. there was an interactive painting game and we saw some modern art slides and we left. When we chanced upon the huge ALIVE ART poster, daddy took a shot for us and we were again told NO PHOTOGRAPHY! its a poster!

at the entrance of the ticketing booth was a Mona Lisa painting with her face cut-out and many had stopped to take pics with their faces pop-into the die-cut! when we walked past it, no one was there and we took shots of baby r as the Mona Lisa! haha... then i saw the paintings again and i took shots of it and no one came to stop me, no one told me NO PHOTOGRAPHY ALLOWED!

it was so funny right.... the painting were on the side panels of the exterior of the exhibition hall and no one came to tell us off for taking pics of the artwork! make no sense! lucky we got to see the slides shows when we were inside! if not i would be hopping mad! i like the exhibition except i expected alittle more and of cos i want to be able to take pics! next time i will check before going for such exhibitions. if the art work is real i am fine to jus use my eyes!
