Little Miss 18th Mths baby R!

10th Dec 2010 = baby R is 18 mths old!

baby R is little Miss Sunshine every morning... smliing at me when she wakes up and i love it when she calls Mama...with a little slur with the 2nd ma... she is still very very active, she do what she wants and she seems to have lots on her mind.

Things that she can do can be rather rascal! i mean it! she would turn her standing toy all over the toy mat, go over the toy's standing legs and climb all over everywhere! She now can sit for longer period if she is watching her favourite program. she loves to dance to Hi5 and Barney whenever they sing and dance in the show.

Lots of mumbling and new words... still very cheeky esp when calling my mum popo sooo softly but on occasions when she reached popo house, she dashed in to check on my mum and she would accidently called out Popo loudly then she will become cheeky and call softly again... she sure knows where to find popo if she wasnt the one opening the door! She did managed to call yiyi YI cos she really wanted the ice-cream! Some very clear pronouciation would be ELMO... when we went to catch Sesame Street Show, Mil heard her calling Elmo really clearly, she used to se Mo... yesterday when i showed her the clips we recorded from the show, i heard her very clearly say, ELMO. daddy heard her this morning.

when we were at the doctor for her 18th mths jabs, doc gave her a packet of cookie to distract her from the 2 jabs. i carried her and told her to thank the doc and say bye, she gave kisses and waved... then she spotted the cookie jar behind the doctor, she pointed at it and let out a loud MORE! doc was surprised and she broke into a smile and told me she is so smart! Doc gave her another packet and told baby R since she had 2 jabs, she can have one more packet. baby R was a brave gal, she cried and look horrified when she was jabbed and gave me a very painful and sad look, cried a little and i encourage her and she stopped tearing and watch barney on the MP4... when she got the 2nd jab, she did the same but stopped quickly when i praised her, saying she was very brave and i would tell daddy how brave she was.... a very strong gal.

she makes us all clap to the music and i mean everyone! she would go grab everyone's hand and encourage them to clap along... started becos i wanted to teach her to clap to the beat as we watched the photo montages that i made... at shows, when she is not too sleepy and warmed up for the shows, she would dance on her own esp at Sesame street and Hi5 where we got to go into the performance sitting area. loved the way she swayed and did concert waves... at Hi5's performance, she even tried to follow the dnace steps! she would do the main steps like knock the door, hug teddy bear and of cos Hi5!

good thing that happened within the month of dec was, she got under peer pressure and finally she wants her stroller! Yipee! best thing that happen for mummy and Ah ma! i have been nagged so many times by my aunts about bringing her out on a stroller... baby R isnt one who loves to be strapped on the pram! Since i started to bring her for xmas show at malls, the first 2-3 shows, we went the usual carry-her-in-arm way... i ended up painful shoulders, arm and waist... after the shows, she saw many children in prams and they didnt need to be carried or they didnt have to walk on their own... everytime we were about to leave for shows, my neighbour's kid would be sitting her her stroller, pushed by the grandparents to go out... so it was good that she decided to give it a try cos the result was great, thou still tiring but its not so taxing on the shoulders and we can run faster with her in the pram to get a place for the show! many of the shows we go to needed to queue to get in!

baby R is growing well, thou sometimes she is rather picky with homecook porridge... she is turning out to become more adventurous with food, always looking at what we are eating and i started feeding her outside food if its not too salty. she loves eating outside food! Now baby R loves to get her hands on my camera! whenever i am busy unloading all the many pictures taken each day, she would sneak near to get the camera and she would hang the camera on her neck and she start to seriuosly take photo, aiming the camera at things or me... at one of the show, baby R grab my mil's phone aimed at the stage to take the characters from Sesame Street!

baby R is learning everyday and she is getting very good at doing certain chores at home. she love to help me throw trash into the bin in the kitchen. she would put away her clothes into the laundry basket when i get her ready for shower. she is now learning to help me pack the bed in the morning! she has her own bed now. i would set up the mattress ready for her, but she still prefers to sleep next to us... so after she falls deep into lala land... i would transfer her to her own mattress. i miss having her next to me, snuggling right next to me... but not when she punches or kicks us! daddy loves his space on the bed thou...

baby R is lovable but she got many bad habits still, i need to chase those away... i jus hope that i have more support then questions why i dun allow those habits - i  hate it when she throws all the books out of the bag! toys everywhere as she please... i am one who hates it when things dun go my way and others being way tooooooo helpful cos sometimes things are worse off and habits are hard to change but i will continue to help my gal... i dun want to see her climbing or sitting near the edge of the sofa which is right next to the window anymore... cos that makes me worried and boil cos i say many times and still i see her there.

haiz. parenting is never alone and easy esp when i stay with elders... i appreciate the help showered upon us but certain things there is a line but the line is not visible to everyone so people tend to cross the line and it affects my mood, affects my relationship with baby R and also my hubby... sometimes i feel so trap... but i know baby R loves it when there are others than me at home... i hope that everyday will be better and that baby R grows up well.

i am so tired esp this dec cos i have been arranging many events for baby R to attend, bringing her everywhere, arranging surprises for her cos i started on a special project Giving=Receiving esp for her and daddy... started on the Nov25th after i receive baby R's first present for xmas, i wanted to do something special with her everyday till christmas... now i have another 15days to go! thats why i have been so busy to update my blog... but soon, i might stop blogging... stop my facebook... to do even more with my gal... might start a new blog to do a scapeblog for her... i need to make some changes for the year 2011... maybe this could be my last entry...

words at 16th mths

GO!
(she would be at the door ready to GO!)

GOAL!!!
(she would shout GOAL when anyone watches soccer!)

ball
(daddy is pretty worried cos she loves to kick ball!)

GO OUT!
(just last Saturday baby R told my mum and she pointed to the door!)

Where?
(when she is looking for something, she would ask)

Whereee's it?
(just yesterday, in SIL's room, she kept asking!!!)

there!
(she would exclaimed when the thing she wants is found!)

jiejie
(she mouth the words out last week when she was looking for the little gal next door!)

Mmmalk! (milk)
(whenever i ask her if she wanted milk and she has to reply to confirm her order!)

GONG!
(always calls my fil very loudly! funny thing is that she doesnt call my dad yet which is gongong!)

ah Ma
(she is the 3rd person to be called by her! baby R master this long ago)

Papa
(she always wakes up and say papa...looking for papa who is at work!)

DADA!
(for fun baby R will call her daddy, dada!)

DaaaaDiii!
(in a very angry tone sometimes she would exclaimed loudly, esp when she is frustrated
- gx say she imitate me! cos when i need help urgently or
when baby R is very out of hand i would scream DaaaDi!)

 Mami
(hardly she calls for me as i am always near her! once in a blue moon she would call me sweetly)

Maama
(when she wakes up in the morning and i dun seem to see her, which i pretend, jus to hear her call me!)

popo
(my funny girl would mouth these words with her softest volume!
and to make things worse, Popo say she can hear.... ergh!)

these are some words that she has been saying and some very new addition this month! baby R at 16mths understand alot of things and she know 4 languages - english, chinese, teochew and some cantonese. she listens to korean and japanese songs too! she watch pretty much 2-3 hours of cartoon in the morning with my mil... something she enjoys as she loves songs and of cos dance too! she loves watching advertisments when i catch my tv serials. she has a great sense of humour and she knows how to get her way... which is something i need to correct her as i am having difficulties carrying out my discipline when there is more than one voice and not all grandparents are on the same line as i have set the rules to be... very playful, climbing all over, curious little one, willing to learn, very expressive and  very loving. i wish only that she is alittle more tone down so that people around her won't feel their heart pop-out everytime she starts to run about!

Chicken Pox scare!

yesterday i brought baby R to the docs asshe sprouted some red spots on her right waist and her face had red spots too... they were not watery, not blistered like CPox was to be but my neighbour did tell me her son started with normal looking rashes and they became watery blisters... she spent $119 for her young 6 mths old! with the fever symptom that came and go, i fed her fever med twice and it didnt come back, i prayed that its just reactions to the MMR jab we had last Monday! we head to the polyclinic instead to see if it was CPox as my neighbour offered me the med and all i needed was to confirm if she was down. we were isolated in a corner of the polyclinic and the 2 nurses came and shook their heads...

they didnt think it was CPox... the doctor came and told us the same thing. she said the virus is air-bourne, just dun let baby R go near still as the virus is still around and will stay for 1month! i asked the doc if (fingers-X) baby R gets it, should i bring her to doc? she told me theres no medication for chicken pox! i showed her the name of the med and she said that is for body something.... like a booster for the body to get well soon? all she told me was if i had runny nose med... cos that all i need if baby R is down.

Runny nose med for chicken pox? yeah. i double-confirmed it as she say the med is only to be taken if she is down with it and its to be taken if baby R starts to scratch! its for her to feel droswy, go to bed so she dun scratch! i took the med as baby R was down with bad runny nose for before she had the fever. no harm to stand by the med in my fridge!

so far so good, the face spots are diminishing. the body ones did not have any increase but getting lighter. so we are heading for our wedding dinner party at Shangrila tonite and with all things well, we would attend my cousin, baby R's little Uncle L's 5th bdae party! hope weather would be good and we might go for a dip in the pool when we return to their house after the party! FINGERS-XXX!

also many thanks to all the ladies who showered their concerns when i sounded the alarm on FB for remedy, cure, what to do with a chicken pox baby! i want to keep their suggestions with this post so that if ever, even with the CPox jab, if my baby gets it, i would know what to do!

Joanne Cher Wan Ang-Loo Can bathe but remember to pat dry instead of rub dry. Actually doc will say can eat anything but I think just avoid chicken, prawns, nuts or food that may cause allergies lah. :)

Zany Lyn Hi dear, avoid giving her chicken n soy sauce. It will leave visible marks n itch her body. Thats what the old ppl says lahh

Emily Tan Try to apply calamine lotion to supress the itch. On the positive side, once they get it, they're immune. J also had chicken pox at 18 months

Lucindy Lee I bathed both kiddos in oatmeal..i put uncooked oatmeal in muslin bag, soak n squeeze it..water turned milky n i let them soak for abt 5mins..be careful cos water n bb will b slippery, i avoid soap..i also hv somethg for bathing .. pass to u if need k..then pat dry. I used calamine on S, on W i used calendula cream as long as moisturised, he dun feel the itch (i guessed)! Avoid citrus fruits, prawns, squid, nuts, chix n egg (S took egg..hope no side effect)..nails short to avoid scratching..

Michelle Helen I bathed them with Dermaveen, commercially prepared cleanser with oatmeal. Calamine lotion after bathing. My little boy lost his appetite and had milk all the time because he had a lot in his mouth, my little girl gained 3 kg because of the only activity was eating. She blames not having enough in her mouth for her gained weigth--funny girl.

My fren's son B is down with Cpox right now and when he gets back to school, he needs to sit for exams... poor boy! i hope he gets well soon, feel better and do his best for the papers!

12mths 1 week old milestones

Baby R has taken many steps but after she turned one year one week old... she has learnt to let go, off support and taken more than 5-6steps, falling into my arms and gave me tight hugs! My little toddler has grown so much, her little thighs are alittle more chubby! being very active i would say she still look lean. very fast in action, always grabbing things very fast and didnt even notice how it happened. she is talking more, complaining alot and making alot of expressions! pretend to cry to show how upset she is esp when i tell her thats all the ice-cream she gets to lick off the cone! danced alot when she hears music. she got new moves! she listened to jazz, pop, dance, korean, chinese, english and all time favourite jap C&A cd to sleep. my newest song that i sing her to sleep is FLY ME TO THE MOON! love my ballroom dancing with her, she totally enjoys it! when i need a rest from dancing around the house, she would hold my hand up to continue turning and breezing thru the room! she is drooling alot again as her upper 2 teeth is protruding from her gums. she combs her hair with her own tiny comb from the burts bee miniture package (thanks to Shanice's full month gift!). she mimics alot of our action and she even had one hand on her waist, not sure why she does that! baby r always indicate what she wants at meals now! when she wants water she would push the spoon away and look away.... when she is done with the water, she would look at the bowl! by now, climbing up and down from sofa, beds is not a problem for her... esp after the terrible bump she had before her actual bdae! she learnt her lesson and no matter how excited she is, she would turn and come down by legs first! she holds her bottle most of the time but when she is tired and sometimes lazy and sometimes to lock me next to her, she would want to be pamapered, getting me to hold the bottle for her! she intiate the family cheer when she sees daddy on the webcam. she totally understand what we say... esp when we are planning to go out... she would skip her naptime to wait for the moment! thats a pain! hate it when she gets grouchy when she miss her naps... but in comparison, she is still a good baby, she doesnt allow the grouchiness to last to long.... she loves birthdays and she knows what to do during birthdays! she loves pushing the knife into cakes! she helped ah gong cut the fathers' day cake last nite! she loves the photobook i did for her, always pointing to it and getting my mil to flip the book for her! she would get so excited looking thru it! she loves the slides i do for her too and she loves to express herself, making so many expressions and getting really excited, talking alot, when i showed it to my aunts and uncles! she shows her xi, nu, ai and le in her own ways and its a joy to see her grow!

the Walker

i am not pro for walker. i have never wanted a walker for my baby. but as usual, its talk it out and i ironed it out with daddy. we were lucky that my neighbour had one on hand and she lend it to us. so i can try without having to spend a cent on it, esp in case baby r doesnt like it....

baby r was fine in it and she walked backwards in it! i tried it out when i needed to go to the bathroom. it was a better choice over the bumbo chair. she gets entertained in it while waiting for me. she prob wont fall out like the way she did with the bumbo chair! so the walker is here to stay but i won't put her in unless i need help from the walker!

Chicken Liver porridge

March 11th Thursday. ergh... yah chicken liver.... didnt want to take the red bloody pic of it. i smashed it after its cooked. had it finely mashed and mixed with some of her usual fish porridge. didnt mix all the porridge with the liver as i dun know how baby r will react to the taste. both daddy and i HATE liver! my mil is pretty insistant about giving baby r new food and more food as she is growing and she thinks that baby r is not having enough different kind of food.... LIVER is one of the MUST food. i am very SLOW at giving new food items to baby r as she fell sick and that slowed things down and the fact that she can't drink milk makes me stick to a slower pace, i dun want to hurry thru the new food items as i want her stomach to be able to take it.... i read up on it and decided to start baby r on some... but has to chicken liver as its softer than piggie and easier to cook which won't turn too hard or remain too bloody for baby r to consume... if i have a choice... i won't give. but for baby r's good... no disagreements, i try it out.

so whats in the Liver? its a protein-rich food but its cannot be given more than 3times a week as its high in Vit A and too much of this vit can be harmful. the pic of baby r waiting in her seat as i was rushing to make her porridge and go for class. mil was trying to get some stuff done up..... she looked soooo sleepy and sad when i told her i needed to go for class. she did finish the bowl with added liver but mil said that baby r didnt really seemed to like it very much...

rusks...NOT!

Got her some rusks and decided to let her try it out.... OHHHHhhh NOooooo!

sunday morning breakfast for baby r turned messy! it wasnt her fault as the rusk is very crumbly! i tried some and i didnt like the taste of it! em... no sugar mit be the reason... she cried when i took it away from her, i endured the mess and let her have it with her fingers but i will prob break it up and soak it in milk the next time i give this to her! baby r enjoys feeding herself!

Fever... Hives... baby r turns 8months old today

skipping all the entires as i dun have time cos cny is round the corner... busy packing, preparing stuff for CNY and to add to the squeezy time frame... baby r fell SICK and needed 24/7 attention! its something that i haven experience in the past 7 months...

my little one is sick and i was very worried... she slept alot on monday as the rest of us were veyr busy packing away. tuesday 9th Feb, she woke up with a fever hitting her highest ever at 37.8 degrees... it was the first time she had fever med. she took it readily and no struggles from her. the fever went up and down between 37.3degrees - 37.5degrees. baby r took alot of barley water that was prep by mil. i had the fever cooling pad on her head...

She took a short nap and when i took her temp again... i got a shock and it rose up to 38.4degrees! it freaked me out as that toppled the morning's record and she seemed like burning! got some advise from friends who sent me advice via FB but i needed to talk to someone before i could calm down to get into action... i called gx and told him. he too was worried and i suddenly told him i want to call my aunt o! Lucky for me that she was available and she was there to tell me what to do!

She told me to take some ice and water in a basin and rinse a small towel to wipe baby r... this will help to bring her temp down... i called gx and told him about the ice bath... i prep the things while she was in a baby seat and i was pretty nervous... laid her on the sofa on her changing mat and i started to ice her head 1st and she broke into tears and i cried instantly hearing her cry... she was in shock and i gave her a hug tightly but she couldnt stop crying... she felt so hot... i called daddy and i told him i feel so pain doing it... after the call... i calm down and i started to act faster with the iced towel...

as i sponge her, i told her i had to do it to help her bring the temp down... i had to ignore her cry and do it ... took her temp after 10mins... it came down to 37.8degrees from 38.4degrees. i hugged her tight and brought her into the room to give her a change in environment to calm her down... poor little one continued to cry... i told her i won't do it anymore but i told her she needed to put the fever pad on her head... she allowed me to put it on... but she tried to take it away and i told her it has to be on your head of not your temp goes up, i need to sponge her again... her fingers left it alone... she was uncomfortable... but the fever did come down to almost normal temp at 37.2 degree.

I decided to still bring her to see doctor. i want to make sure using the thermometer from the doctor to check her temperture. her fever has subsided and i was pondering whether to see the doctor and i decided to go in. I was glad i went in as i got a list of questions ready and i was glad i had the answers. I dress baby r in a short sleeve romper to sleep as i was advice not to cover her too much as i need to keep her cool. if i needed to sponge her just use tap water will do... i was glad my questions were answered and it gave me a sense of confidence to know how to handle her.

she was much better as the fever was kept away until this morning... no fever but suddenly red patches, red ugly blotches appeared on her leg, neck, hand, elbow, knee!!! gosh she was very red and i freaked out! got ready to go to the doctors and realise it was too early... so i checked on the internet to find out what could it be and among the rashes symtoms, hives seems to be the culprit... we were the 1st to see the doc and it was suspected hives... doctor rule that it could be the viral infection that cause baby r's fever that caused the hives.... or it could be the fever med that baby r took for the 1st time that caused it... it couldnt be food as i didnt let her try any new food... hives can be caused by many reasons...

baby r was so active in the doctor's room. she even did her pacifier tricks jus using her mouth to bite on the pacifier amused the doctor! doc heng was amazed by baby r's tricks! she tried very hard to pay attention to me! i told dr that baby r will popped it back the right way later without using her hands and baby r did just that and dr was shocked. then we continued the q&a and dr was distracted by Baby r twisting the pacifier solely with her mouth and tongue... eating her pacifier sideways! dr couldnt helped it but laughed and apologised to me that she couldnt help looking at baby r... i was fine as i know how pipi my little one can be!

the hives went away as we walked home... it was just flat red patches on her legs.... then when she took the med... one of the med caused baby r to throw up on me... we cleaned up and got baby r to rest... the hives all went away but when she woke up... the fever was back... i closely monitored her as i can't give her the mild fever med as its suspected as a cause for her hives... used fever patches, gave her lots of water and kept her cool in the air-conditioned room... to keep awake... i typed this entry... feeling very tired and i stopped halfway when she woke up and i wa swith her till she slept at 9+pm... i am exhausted on the day she turned 8 months old...

the fever has now subsided reaching highest at 37.7degrees... i hope it remains normal and no hives on my baby... my poor little one... i am thankful to my inlaws who closed their stall early yesterday to come home with my dinner, wanting to help to relieve me... esp my mil who helped me out everyday... thanks to my mum who kept calling... my aunt o who check in with us and aunt k who heard and gave us a ring this morning. Thanks to my sil for today's help and for buying me dinner... i am really tired today... i was glad she helped me out... as for now but i can't z... i need to wait till theres someone else in room to be with her and me so that i can rest... daddy is still at work and i thank him for working so hard and it was hard on him to be worried at work and i am thankful that he told me that he is glad i am home to look after our girl as he knows that little one is good hands... i am trying my best and what he said to me gave me strength to pull thru today and kept me calm.

blueberry apple puree!

Blueberries are great for health!
One serving of blueberries provides as many antioxidants as 5 servings of broccoli, apples or carrots! It carries Ellagic acid which is an antioxidant that is thought to prevent the development of cancer. Blueberries also contain the antioxidant anthocyanins which strengthen blood capilllaries, improving circulation and helping to transport nutrients around the body - probably one of the reasons blueberries can enhance eyesight and protect against dementia, heart diesease and strokes. Also it has an anti-inflammatory effect on the body's tissues and are rich in tannins, which fight the bacteria that cause urinary tract infections. Eat blueberries 3 or 4 times a week for full immunity-boosting benefits.

i used the method from Annabel Karmel family cookbook . i have a few new dishes for baby r that are from her cookbook that i want to make for baby r! i decided to first try her blueberry apple puree! this can be kept frozen up to 8 weeks. didnt add any water to the apples and blueberries. i just simply chopped the apples and let it simmer in the pot with the blueberries! as the apples get softer, there will be liquid surfacing and the blueberry gives out the nice colours to the chopped apples! took it out and pureed it in a blender and thats it!

baby r loves it even thou theres a slight sour taste from the blueberry!

new variations for baby r's meals

Ran out of puree peas and carrots. So i got the spinach and sweet potato and mashed them adding them into the existing vegetable stock from my freezer to make porridge for baby r. She love it and she did finished the whole pot of it!

Got another Healthy Times organic product for baby r. This time i wanted to try her on Mixed grain cereal. It consist of barley, oat and brown rice. this turns out alittle darker when mixed with liquid but it seems pretty much the same as the brown rice, could taste barley in this cereal thou! i still mix in fruit purees that i made for baby and give this to her as breakfast or for afternoon snack!

New items for baby R

these are some new items i got for baby r. as recommended by the kind lady who did our passport, we got dentinox to ease baby r's sore gums. the gel numbs the gums and baby r likes it so far but i dun always give it to her. only when she is super cranky! it does help as she will calm down and not get so worked up and trying to struggle and be all over the place! got her a oral massager for her gums and maybe soon, baby teeth... i have used it yet, seriuosly not sure if i should have started this long ago or maybe i can still wait... spot something interesting for baby oral care. Spiffies - baby gum wipes! comes in 2 flavours, apple & grapes. yet to use but bet baby r is gog to like it cos she loves sweet fruits!

Mil has been wanting to get baby r a little potty... i personally dislike potty!!! i dun find it clean cos i dun know how to wash it!!! having the thoughts to clean the contents.... makes me shout NO!!! so .... i was hoping to get a little seat attached to our toilet bowl for baby r and i CROSSED my fingers that baby r will poo using it! if not i will have to keep it till she is much older and buy a little potty for her...

I AM VERY LUCKY!!! baby r was willingly to sit on the movable little toilet seat of hers... and she managed to poo! i was so happy with her performance and am soooooo glad i dun have to clear and wash baby potty!!! she likes in on the seat! she doesnt like her bum getting dirty! a few times she still poos into her diaper as its soft and she couldnt control and didnt have time to inform us. When she can, she would make her face really red or make some noise to let us know and we bring her to the toilet as fast as we could! She is able to hold most of the time till she gets on her seat! her favourite person to Emmmmm her is.....DADDY! she always manage to clear her toxins very well with daddy!

Cantaloupe Melon

Cantaloupe melon to me is known as Rock Melon. mum is really good at choosing fruits! the fruits she usually pick are fresh and sweet! for me i dun have much luck with fruits! i get higher chances of getting nice fruits at cold storage. baby r loves this sweet fruit! it was very juicy too! she kept coming back for more very fast! gave her half a wedge and she was done in no time and wanted more! we had to take her out of her baby chair and distract her! daddy and i ate many cubes of the sweet and juicy melons while she was asleep!

Cantaloupe melon is one of the richest sources of beta-carotene, which the body conerts to vitamin A, an antioxidant that is crucial for the production of diesease-fighting lymphocyte cells. This fruit is also rich in vitamin C, which we need for all immune functions and to protect us afainst colds, cancer and heart diesease. Its high water content gives it a mildly diuretic action, helping to detoxify the body.

Papaya

Last Saturday, Papa was suppose to feed baby r her papaya but he was on the phone. biz talk and couldnt feed little one. so mil gave her the scraped papaya. the papaya wasnt that ripe and wasnt that soft and sweet so i scrape the soft part into a bowl for baby r. baby r loved it anyway as she wanted more when she was done! Just gave her some scraped off from half a wedge and she cried as we were done scrape every corner of it! she wanted more and was upset when we told her thats all! didnt want to overfeed her with fruits!

Papaya is also known as paw paw and its rich in caroteniods and antioxidants! It is also an excellent source of vitamin C, supporting the immunce system and prevent the build-up of plaque in on blood vessel walls, preotecting against heart disease. Papaya is rish in fibre which lowers cholesterol levels and helps prevent colon cancer by binding with cancer-causing toxins. It contains a protein-digesting enzyme called papain, which aids digestion and reduces inflammation.

blueberry + apple brown rice cereal

On Thursday 28th January 2010, i started baby r on AFTERNOON SNACK TIME! mil reminded me that baby r should be taking porridge in the afternoon... i pulled out my books and read on it. Yes, its time to feed her early dinner... but i didnt want to start her immediately on porridge... so i wanted her to have another round of brown rice cereal and i call this afternoon snack time! i tried another variation for the apple puree. Blueberry apple sauce!

the next time round i do this for baby r, i would make this on the very day i make the fresh apple puree! cos it was too watery when i boiled the blueberry separately with additional water. but making it for the 1st time, boiling the blueberry separetly, i got to see how the berries gave out the beautiful red and became softer! Next time i will try to boil the apples with the pears and half way thru take it our and scoop the soften flesh and boil with the blueberries with maybe alittle of the apples+pear drink... and serve it to baby straight away! regretted mixing the brown rice cereal with water... making it more watery and lack in taste! From now on, i will use milk everytime i make cereal! baby r didnt like the texture but she loves the combination as she managed to almost finish the cereal... if she dun anything, something is bothering her during the feed or if she is filled, she would not continue to take anymore and if you dun stop trying to feed her... she would start to Booooooo all the stuff out from her little mouth and it lands all over whoever is feeding her! just have to get the consistency right for baby r! When baby r is much older, i would give her the blueberries raw as its the best way to get the full range of health benefits from it!

One serving of blueberries provides as many antioxidants as 5 servings of broccoli, apples or carrots!
