the simple wedding cake for bro

i still wanted to do something for my bro but all my plans needed time and hands which i didnt have... wanted to make Xi cupcakes or Xi cookies, wanted to make this and that but in the end really i can't make anything as baby R is really active... and time consuming projects are impossible missions.

then i tot of icing room... the white cake and when we were done with the flowers, ann came and i grab her to head to compass point with me while baby R is still napping! so glad cousin A popped by to lend a helping hand! when we were at the mall, we were still brainstorming how to decorate the cake further... and when we chanced upon wedding figurines we were done! next i did a mocked up when bro went down to meet up with the florist. one tier was too short, and 2 tier i had a problem... then seeing the flower gals' bouquets gave me an idea and soooo glad it fitted perfectly!

the figurines sink into the cream when i placed it on the cake! lucky with lots of brains around, Aunt K wins the day with her white cardboard solution! we made a circle cropped from the cake box and the bad patch from the fallen figurine was hidden and the figurines could stand on the cake and its almost invisible!

simple but hopefully my bro and sil like it...

my very own MONT BLANC!

July 9th. i was way early to enter class, they only open the class 10mins before it starts...so i started shopping 1st! bought alot of stuff and as usual i was the 1st in class. way early and they open the sitting for students pretty late... but still i went in to check out the recipe and rested my painful ankle... these days, i can't walk or stand too long.

class was a small group and we worked on a counter top together. we watched the teacher demo the making of the base and we did our own and sent them into the oven and we continued to watch the teacher in action and she spoonfed us by whipping all the cream up for us... we just sat there to watch and write notes. the weird thing that i couldnt stomach about the class was.... at the 1st table, sat 4 ladies and they were attending class too but they were not baking.... they were attending chinese class. the soup and dishes they were cooking filled the whole area and i felt it was so weird to be baking yet we dun smell any sweet bakes but instead herbal scent made our table distracted!

the man i need to thank for agreeing to me attending class.... we did had a pact about me gog for more classes but he knew i love mont blancs! also i need to thank my mil who agreed to help me look after baby r while i had some Me time to go do something i loved!

baby r was very curious what i was showing to daddy... so i showed baby R my creation and she wanted some of it too! i want to make these someday with baby R and mum. My mum loved it and she praised me indirectly telling my siblings to try as its very nice! jus found out that Mont Blanc cakes were originally constructed to look like mountains and in doing so, got their name from the Mont Blanc mountains.

My April update STOPPED on the 19th April.... skipped and uploaded a family picture and a video of pics took on my bdae at botanic gardens... gave up uploading the other video i made of all the pics taken on my 33rd bdae. i even almost gave up uploading the photos on FB! had to break the uploading into so many times that i got frustrated! took a long break and so glad i managed to upload the photos by mn before i turned into bed at 1am...

I have lots on my agenda for MAY! baby r's bdae is just 4 weeks away! too early to plan? i have so many things to look into and the only time i get is the naptime period. making it hard to update april and whats happening at the same time... LOTS OF PHOTOS! tried many new food and new places to eat but its impossible to do what i would like to do... a proper update!!!

Anyway... i have to focus to get what i want to do done! just for today and only for 1hour i am gog to upload as much to FB and link the albums on my blog... then i have to go thru and choose a caterer as i need to submit info to the management.... wheres' the party? its a secret for now! the party is only for my side of relatives. Its a small party and not everyone is invited... i hope everyone understands... alot of limitations. so please, my friends if you are not invited, dun be upset by our decision.

19th April : Happy moment for my parents! I am Very Proud of my brother! Baby R's 1st convocation!

21st April : Finally i got to attend this class by Mong! i have been waiting for this class! i had fun!

baby r's 1st haircut. when she turned 4 months old she shaved her hair and eyebrows. this time i held her in my arms and my heart sank when i saw the aunty snipped off her hair when i asked her to simply trim off alittle... didnt ask her to cut her hair round! too bad... too late.... i should have insisted my way.... cut after my bdae.... duh! WHY DID I OBEY! for once i wished i had my way!

24th April : my bdae had alot of fun playing with the leftover fondant and created a total different look for my bdae cake. Big thanks to SIL who got me the cake, gave me a fushia pink wristlet and took great shots for our little family! Had a great time at botanic gardens and special thanks to my sis who helped babysit baby r! my mum got mango cake for me. the special part was... she asked the lady for ALL PINK CANDLES.... i packed all pink candles to go with the hello kitty figurine i was bringing over!

Our 1st Gingerbread cookies and its my last bake for 2009

i have decided to update some of the special events that happened during dec 2009 before things are forgotten and not recorded! one of the special event was whole day baking gingerbread cookies on 23rd dec with nesa and baby r!

started making some gingerbread minis on 22nd and they turn out not too ideal as the shape of the GB figure turned out alittel fat! baby r was very interested in what i was doing and she actually managed to reach out to the cut out GB dough got one of it when i was taking photo of her and SQUESHED it! she is getting really fast in her action!

on the 23rd, we were very lucky to be able to get red and white ready icing for piping! i really had no time to do it and esp wash after making it! after discussion, we decided to make candy canes to give away to Gx's collegues and nesa's paternal side. we did some snowflakes and we made enough big GB girl and boy for me to give away to my relatives with kids. made a special box of GB family for my neighbour. her GB mama is wearing a maternity dress and the little heart on her is to represent the baby in her tummy!

afraid that there would not be enough dough, nesa and i comb the supermarket to get some xmasy shortbread to decorate and added those to a family box of cookies esp for my other aunts and uncles. then i assemble a special box esp for my family! tried making candy stained glasss cookies for the 1st time. its pretty but rather sticky! made my very own GB family!

how did we bake with baby r around? with her cooperation, when i needed to get the tray out from the hot oven, or i needed to pipped a sample for nesa to follow, baby r would be either in the cot and nesa have to entertain her or they would be on the sofa and nesa would be telling little baby r to sit down constantly! by the end of the session, we were both very tired and baby r was too but i guess she had the most fun watching us and torturing little aunty nesa!
