4th Wedding Anniversary!

18th Sept 2009 - Much awaited 4th Wedding Anniversary! the whole week i was preparing for this day to come! started packing room on tuesday and wednesday! i was digging into many paper bags that laid in the room... the freebies bag from hospital where there are alot of baby product samples, milk powder for mums and info booklets. there were document bags, filled with housing document, baby document, letters for filing! baby gifts, my new recipe books and baking ware!!! i did baby shopping and got gx's new oakey fixed with new lense as a present.
*
then on thursday, i went to ikea to get new drawers to house all the kept treasures! lucky for me, mil helped me look after my lit gal while i was fixing the drawers. my pil rested on thurs and fri as fil has to attend 7th mth dinners on both nites. i rearranged the room and dear was happy with it thou its still filled with many things but it was very much neater! after he saw the room, i made him go over to central to buy things and i told i needed contact lense lotion... i quickly passed the receipt to the man and suddenly gx said... forgot to bring the oakey glasses to get the lense fixed... at the same time, the man took out the glasses and i passed it to him ... he was shock ... should have brought my camera along to take his reaction. he liked his present and he was stressed out as he haven't got me a gift! we werent suppose to get gifts in the 1st place. all i told him was we should get cards for each other but i wanted to do something for a hardworking, over-worked daddy! but the meal is on him and i was excited to be going to Wild Rockets!

Once the clock strike mn, my dear hubby was already zzzing. his hp reminder alarm did ring but he was so tired that he couldnt hear at all! i woke him up to off his alarm and he was sorry that he didnt get to wish me earlier... i gave him a card and his present. he was surprise that i had time to get him gifts! i got him a tie when i went to get mum's present and he liked the tie. gave him his card but i told him that we should read our cards when i get mine!
*
He wore the tie i got him to work. he liked it alot! gx wore the new glasses too. I was excited about the wedding anniversary dinner since when i made a reservation the week before! its the first niteout we have as couples! We decided not to go back to M hotel and instead we were gog to the restaurant which i have been wanting to try out! Gx drove back to get me and when i got into the car, i saw my card! didnt open it as we were suppose to read it together.
*
alittle disappointed when i walked into the restaurant! the place was filled with NOISE!!! yes, we knew that it was gog to be full-house but i didnt expect it to be so noisy! apparently, besides a few pair of couples, the place was filled with doctors.. yah doctors making sooooo much noise! they were having a merry good time and there was this SUPER loud fellow who was gog around with a wine bottle! well in a huge group, chilling down on a Friday nite... nothings wrong with that... the waitress kindly told us that theres a big group of doctors that nite and usually the place is quiet unlike that nite... ignoring the noise as best as i could... we ordered and i started snapping away before the food came. gx ordered gin tonic and i had blood orange.

i like the area where we sat. pretty romantic as we were surrounded with black wallpaper filled with red flower, roses? i sat on the sofa-like seat, back supported with cushions, admiring how round the white chrysanthemum was and its petals were really firm and round! its a real flower and i really like the simple touches! i like the photo i took of gx and the flower! we ordered the UOB chef's dinner tasting menu. 6 courses! we got to try abit of everything at $64++ each pax.

we had warm bread with olive oil. the nice crisp kueh pieti was filled with sauteed mushroom! very different and i love the presentation! For soup we had Seafood congee soup with egg emulsion, we were told to stir everything in the dish before we consume it. Curiuos me, had to try the lumpy spoon-shaped congee and it was tasteless but when everything was well-mixed, it was nice! gx and i enjoyed the texture and taste!

Next we had Homemade deep fried tofu with poached spinach in dried oyster broth. we were pretty confuse what cutlery to use! it doesnt stick to the western meals rules! doesnt work from the outer to inner cutlery! so we just pick up whatever utensils we wanted to eat with! i love oyster broth and the tofu was soft. then we had the fork and spoon replaced after it was cleared!

I told gx that i miss our baby and wondered what she was doing and if mil could handle her if she threw tantrum... called home and baby was good and mil managed to get baby to sleep soundly. Mil told us to enjoy ourselves and need not rush home. how lucky of us! then we chatted about our last few months of experiences, how we miss our travelling days but we were both thankful we did travel to some of the places as planned! then i shared with gx our future travelling plans! I hope to bring our gal to stay at HK disney resort, Taiwan's plantation area, Tokyo hello kitty land, Australia farm stay... hopefully we both get to go to Egypt, Greece... but we are gog to test run and train our child with travels to Malaysia and Thailand's island 1st!

this was the darkest squid ink risotto i have ever eaten! i like the Squid ink risotto with baby octopus very much! This risotto taste very good! love every thick, black spoonful and we can't see whats in it till we taste it! All 5 senses must be used when eating this Chef's dishes! Our tongues were black! i played with the ink on my plate... drew a heart on my plate!

I took the menu so that i can remember the name of the dishes we had... but i didnt take the name of the fish dish! the fish came with dongfen which is placed below the fish. the next dish was one of our most favourite that nite! Duck leg confit with mum's yam cake & plum mustard was clearly one of the dish we will remember as it taste very nice! every spoon must have abit of everything that is served on the plate to be able to taste the flavour the chef wants you to experience! thou the plates looked bigger than the food itself, we were pretty filled.

I ordered another drink, lychee martini! my first sip was strong as i prob drank quite abit of the liqour! its been so long since i took alcohol! to say the truth, i didnt like it! what happen to my love for drinks? maybe i was still being very careful as i am still breastfeeding... then came the surprise arrangement. i did mention that we are celebrating our wedding anniversary so that they can arrange a nice quiet corner for us. they served their dark lava chocolate gateau with flambe banana, lit up with a pretty pink candle and the staff wished us happy anniversary! i like nice touches as i think its pretty important to pay attention to the smallest details... i really think the colour of the candle matters! the chocolate lava is thick and rich but its ok only as i was more drawn to the other dessert that was served on the chef tasting menu!

Pandan infused panna cotta with gula melaka. With the first look at it, it looks pale compared to the lava chocolate dessert, but when we had our 1st spoonful, i liked it and so did gx! maybe we were looking for new taste like the other dishes we had! but we really like it alot! i like the texture of the panna cotta and most of all its a different taste from the usual italian restaurants. i got a bad habit... when i know how to make it... i dun order the dessert anymore unless its said to be really good or different! Althou we were very full.... i wanted to try the Wild Rocket strawberry cheesecake which is always recommended on articles. gx told me to try it when we come back the next visit... but i wanted to try and i just have to try it! he knows how it works... so i ordered! to my surprise, it came in a glass. the dessert was layered in a glass, digestive crumbs, cheese and strawberry. the strawberry seems to be the one i have in a jar in my fridge and i still like the pandan panna cotta as its more special in my view... but dun be mistaken, the desserts are still very good but i really like the unusual dessert better, esp when u can't find it elsewhere!

the nice "manager" was nice to offer to take a shot for us. the staff are all very friendly and he chatted with us. we talked about our little gal and about the local school learning system... stressing that nowdays children don't enjoy or seriuosly in our view, dun have much childhood unlike our times. we were the last couple to leave as we were having a good time chatting with him. i like the place when its quieter and was glad that the doctors didnt stay longer than their dishes! so we still managed to enjoy our dinner in a nice ambience. i hope we can go back soon to try out the other dishes... but i know it won't be too soon thou! wonder when will be my next couple niteout! another nice gesture from the restaurant... the lava cake was on the house. Sweet and i apprecitate it!

Rachel is 3mths old!

back to updating 2nd week of September! started this on 25th sept and i have so much more to update!!! its already 29th today! hopefully i get to the end of this and get to post more as i had such a busy weekend and that = to LOTS of photos!

Sept 9th Wednesday. i kept waking up in the wee hours to check on my gal. Lit Rach had poor appetitate... I was very worried the whole day! she was looking good when daddy read to her in the nite. i sang twinkle twinkle little star to Rach and she smiled .... that made me teared. after she fell asleep, gx and i shared a slice caramel nut cake and it was good. after the sweet... comes irregular sleep the next few days!

Sept 10th Thursday. little one woke up looking alit blur. its vaccination day... daddy wanted to take leave but i told him not to worry. Mil and I brought little rach over to the doctor for a jab. We chose to go to the clinic at central so we dun have to travel to polyclinic. mil was afraid of the wait. but we were too early and doctor was gog to be a little late... i decided that we should eat our brunch within the 1hour. we settled at the nearest coffeeshop and mil ate first. by the time my mil finished her meal, little one is feeling hot and we decided to move to Mac. once in we were all so glad as its so much cooler!
my gal was very fascinated when my mil shake the cup of coke! she listens to the sound of ice knocking the cup and got an amazed look and i immediately took out my camera to capture her fascination. hopefully the link below shows the video taken of her and the shaking cup of coke!
Rachel is growing well. she measures 62cm long and weighs 5.7kg! everytime i am at the clinic, i sure have a list of questions! so glad the doctor is very patient and answer all my questions. the shocking info i got was, the white spot on rach right arm is not white spot fungi but its a white birthmark! didnt know birthmarks can be white! i think i was more nervous than Rach cos she prob didnt know she was gog to be jabbed! She was pretty brave with the first jab at her butt! no cries... she was then fed the rotavirus med, which she took some made a face and tried to reject the rest! doc warned that the next jab on her arm will hurt more... i felt very sad when i hugged my gal... she gave a loud outburst! i quickly sayang her and told her she is very brave and she stopped crying! wish daddy was here! cos the 1st time she got jabbed daddy was the one carrying her and i didnt feel so uptight about it! told daddy to save his leave for more impt days!

was monitoring my gal's temperature as doc said that she might develop fever... gave me med to stand by. i know that some choose to give the fever med to the child to prevent the fever arising... but some dun agree cos that affects the immunity system to fever and they rather the child not taking the fever med unless it arises... i believe i should not give unless theres fever but i panic when i felt Rach's head getting hotter. until daddy got home, daddy said no need for med. she was not having fever as she was the most 36.8 degrees. i called the parents hotline and asked they say unless the child is 37.5 degrees then yes the child is having fever... i tried to call my fren penny and realise she is in jakata thus i didnt need to phone another mum fren angie cos they were there on vacation together! i made a call to penny's hubby and i am thankful to eugene who helped me out. he didnt think i should give the med as Rach has not develop fever and to ease my worries, he told me its ok if i wanted to give her fever cooling patch. Gx was frustrated with my worries and was glad eugene solved my doubts. Rach was alit cranky and daddy was sweet to cuddle her to sleep and we didnt put her on the bed till she was really deep in her sleep!

Sept 11th Friday. little rach woke up and she look so bright and cheery! her smile ensured me that she had good rest and is feeling alright! i was feeling very tired thou cos i kept waking up at night to check on my lit gal. i felt that my little gal has grown so much everytime she hit every 10th of each month! after reading information on my child's development, i decided to try to prop her on the sofa with lots of cushions supporting her... and she did managed to sit up all by herself! i have been playing with her, having her to sit up lying on my thighs, facing me and i sing to her or talk to her. i even lift her up and put her on top of my knees and she loves looking down back at me, grinning and melting my heart! i was so happy when i steadied her with the cushions and i started taking pics of her and she too was excited that i allowed her to sit without my support! when daddy got home after the photoshoot, he was amazed with our little gal's progress! we didnt go back to mum's place as we are still monitoring lit rach's temperature.

Sept 12th Saturday. Gosh my sis is sure early! Lucky she called to wake me up! she was already getting ready to drive mum over to my place to fetch us over as gx had to work. sis was missing her little niece! when we got back to mum's... sis drove mum to the market and we were left at home! little Rach was active and i started taking video of her kicking, making noises and she wiggle non-stop in her cot! love the pinkish flowery carter sleepwear! when i was in sis' rm, i just decided to load all the photo i have in my cam on sis' laptop and i did videoclips for my mum's bade, my little one growth from June till mid-Sept! Daddy had to attend client's 7th mth dinner and he came home after mn. he was invited for dinner but he went pretty late so he stayed later than my cousins and bro. gx looked very tired and worse... he was not feeling well!

Sept 13th Sunday. next morning, gx went to the docs and he was down with stomach flu! so instead of shopping with me... he stayed at home to rest while i got to check out ion... got myself a pair of leopard print pumps and a purplish blue leopard print sweater! managed to buy 3 sets of presents for my little cousins, L and twins! tried some bakery sweets from bread society but i am not a fan thou... very pretty sweets but i still prefer my provence.

Sept 14th Monday. my dear was on mc, he was restless, slept and look very sick! he had to restrict himself from gog near baby and he miss smelling his little gal! when i was picking clothing for my gal, my mil called for me and i rushed into the room to find my gal trying to lift her neck after turning over! i called for gx and fil to see while i dashed to get my camera! her 1st try on her own! she did turn well but did not push herself up as her hand was not in the right postion! i was feeling so proud of my gal! she tried so hard on her own and didnt give up, but we had to pick her up as we were worried that she might hurt herself...
i am so proud of my gal! but the truth is i am afraid too... i dun want her hurt and i want to keep an eye on her 24/7 which is not possible and i seemed to feel stress... worried about her turning in the nite when i am sleeping... i hope she wot turn in the nite!
