bro's Guodali

this it the 6th time i opened this post. i am getting frustrated as the post kept hanging! finger-crossed if not i will just hit post with all the photos not arranged! ergh! -- written 3 dyas ago! -->(started writing this before i got grouchy....i was happy before i became moody.... i hope the rest of the paragraphs i type would be happy cos i was really happy for my bro that day...)

12th Sept 2010, Sunday. the nite before mum was busy preparing the things bro needed for Guodali. i helped mum when baby R was in daddy's hands! daddy and i took turns to help my mum and bro. my bro is a big boy and he's getting married soon...

i bet mum is starting to miss her boy....

i love tradition things for wedding events. this it the only time to have so many red auspicious elements to brighten ones wedding event. it brings up the mood and making it a happy event. gifts to bring over to the lady's family = hard liquor, oranges, wedding cakes, 4-din jin (4pieces of jewellary), angbao on trays filled with auspicious-sounding nuts like walnut, dried lily buds, linzhi and red strings!

gx and i took turns to help my bro fold his wedding invites cos one of us have to look after the active one!
mum got a little zhuzhai biscuit for baby R and that kept her busy for awhile!

Gx had to wake up early to fetch his dad to work, pick up my aunt and nesa and get the baos i ordered from lorong 1  market and rushed over to mum's place. he was late but he wasnt the lastest! he was in fact the 1st few to arrive! can't thank my dear enough for helping me get the baos for breakfast, helping my mum set her breakfast table.

i really hope that the close-knitted feelings will stay strong. i hope that everyone can contribute to make this family tie on-going! i love the feeling of meeting everyone every weekend when i was young. we can't meet up as often as we do not have somewhere like before to gather together... mum doesnt have a maid and thats an issue as alot goes into preparing dinner and sadly my mum's leg isnt up to it... my hands are tied to my gal except for little whiles when she is entertained by the iphone.

sweet sweet daddy brought baby R her happy bear and she was excited to show happy bear popo's house. to keep baby R busy, i gave her the flower necklace and i got so many complains from the not very old but old thinking folks! yes i know they are very concern with baby R playing with such long chains! i am by her side all the time when she is playing with it, it occupied her time and kept her still for awhile. true if i am not around to supervise and she plays with it then its dangerous.... as the adults tell me... but at the same time if she ever plays with it and i am not around, i know 80% she knows what to do with it and she will be safe...fingers-X!

i spent a good 15mins to get all the petals spread out on the chain and it took baby R only 1min to get them all gathered together! then i spent another 15mins to pretty the chain and again she wanted all the petals gathered together! i gave up but i have to say she had her ways to gather the petals so nicely and quickly i was actually impressed!

mum giving instructions to my aunts who accompanied my bro to the lady's house. the granduncles all took turn to catch my active one but non can hold her down for long! bro almost freaked out when no one turned out early! everyone came like 20mins before departure time! kancheong mum gave final and repeated instructions to both my aunts, checking the items before the team sets off!

cakes, oranges, hard liqour, candles, angbao, the jewellary and of cos with all the auspicious-sounding items!

Bro is the 1st Boy of the next generation to get married.
Before all the guodali were 3 gals, me, sis and my cousin A, we were all on the receiving end!

my mum was very happy but she is very tired as got up early to get bro's things ready.
the entourage came back pretty early, welcomed by my little hula gal!

they came back with lots of red red stuff! this are what the lady side send back and these are for the wedding couples and the cutest thing we saw was the pair of clogs! the small pair of clogs was to represent the huge pairs! of cos nowadays no one would wear clogs but it was a good idea to get a pair of miniture ones to represent!

lunch was prepared with M's help, my mum's wonderful maid student. Mum prep 3 dishes in the nite and started to stew and steam them in the morning and with M's help whoses her cooking is pretty much one of the better ones, she stired fried 2 veggies for lunch. everyone was sitting around, chatting while we tried to keep baby R in the room as long as we can so that we didnt need to chase around to catch her!

she was fascinated with the 3d glasses that came with my 8-days magazine. she tried to put it on but think she didnt like the effect of seeing things in 2 colours, she tried to put the glasses on for happy bear! its pretty fascinating to see the 3D effects thru the mag! alot of us put on the glasses to check the many pages of ads in the mag which was 3d.

dun really remember why bro was in such a position? was he making a thank you speech?

pretty neat the way things were brought into the house! they used 2 red ikea box to contain some bride's personal things to symbolise the lady marrying over bringing her stuff over... bad move was bro sat on the box to show everyone how these boxes can be used as seats... cos my gal wanted to test it out too!

after lunch, everyone was tired, sleepy on a Sunday afternoon! mum gave out the invitations and the cakes ordered from Pines Garden. the cake wasnt the buttery kind and it was milky! i loved it but some older folks might think the cake is spoilt! texture soft but they find it not buttery enough! mum did order the cantonese traditional wedding cakes too. counting down to the wedding!
