4th Wedding Anniversary!

18th Sept 2009 - Much awaited 4th Wedding Anniversary! the whole week i was preparing for this day to come! started packing room on tuesday and wednesday! i was digging into many paper bags that laid in the room... the freebies bag from hospital where there are alot of baby product samples, milk powder for mums and info booklets. there were document bags, filled with housing document, baby document, letters for filing! baby gifts, my new recipe books and baking ware!!! i did baby shopping and got gx's new oakey fixed with new lense as a present.
*
then on thursday, i went to ikea to get new drawers to house all the kept treasures! lucky for me, mil helped me look after my lit gal while i was fixing the drawers. my pil rested on thurs and fri as fil has to attend 7th mth dinners on both nites. i rearranged the room and dear was happy with it thou its still filled with many things but it was very much neater! after he saw the room, i made him go over to central to buy things and i told i needed contact lense lotion... i quickly passed the receipt to the man and suddenly gx said... forgot to bring the oakey glasses to get the lense fixed... at the same time, the man took out the glasses and i passed it to him ... he was shock ... should have brought my camera along to take his reaction. he liked his present and he was stressed out as he haven't got me a gift! we werent suppose to get gifts in the 1st place. all i told him was we should get cards for each other but i wanted to do something for a hardworking, over-worked daddy! but the meal is on him and i was excited to be going to Wild Rockets!

Once the clock strike mn, my dear hubby was already zzzing. his hp reminder alarm did ring but he was so tired that he couldnt hear at all! i woke him up to off his alarm and he was sorry that he didnt get to wish me earlier... i gave him a card and his present. he was surprise that i had time to get him gifts! i got him a tie when i went to get mum's present and he liked the tie. gave him his card but i told him that we should read our cards when i get mine!
*
He wore the tie i got him to work. he liked it alot! gx wore the new glasses too. I was excited about the wedding anniversary dinner since when i made a reservation the week before! its the first niteout we have as couples! We decided not to go back to M hotel and instead we were gog to the restaurant which i have been wanting to try out! Gx drove back to get me and when i got into the car, i saw my card! didnt open it as we were suppose to read it together.
*
alittle disappointed when i walked into the restaurant! the place was filled with NOISE!!! yes, we knew that it was gog to be full-house but i didnt expect it to be so noisy! apparently, besides a few pair of couples, the place was filled with doctors.. yah doctors making sooooo much noise! they were having a merry good time and there was this SUPER loud fellow who was gog around with a wine bottle! well in a huge group, chilling down on a Friday nite... nothings wrong with that... the waitress kindly told us that theres a big group of doctors that nite and usually the place is quiet unlike that nite... ignoring the noise as best as i could... we ordered and i started snapping away before the food came. gx ordered gin tonic and i had blood orange.

i like the area where we sat. pretty romantic as we were surrounded with black wallpaper filled with red flower, roses? i sat on the sofa-like seat, back supported with cushions, admiring how round the white chrysanthemum was and its petals were really firm and round! its a real flower and i really like the simple touches! i like the photo i took of gx and the flower! we ordered the UOB chef's dinner tasting menu. 6 courses! we got to try abit of everything at $64++ each pax.

we had warm bread with olive oil. the nice crisp kueh pieti was filled with sauteed mushroom! very different and i love the presentation! For soup we had Seafood congee soup with egg emulsion, we were told to stir everything in the dish before we consume it. Curiuos me, had to try the lumpy spoon-shaped congee and it was tasteless but when everything was well-mixed, it was nice! gx and i enjoyed the texture and taste!

Next we had Homemade deep fried tofu with poached spinach in dried oyster broth. we were pretty confuse what cutlery to use! it doesnt stick to the western meals rules! doesnt work from the outer to inner cutlery! so we just pick up whatever utensils we wanted to eat with! i love oyster broth and the tofu was soft. then we had the fork and spoon replaced after it was cleared!

I told gx that i miss our baby and wondered what she was doing and if mil could handle her if she threw tantrum... called home and baby was good and mil managed to get baby to sleep soundly. Mil told us to enjoy ourselves and need not rush home. how lucky of us! then we chatted about our last few months of experiences, how we miss our travelling days but we were both thankful we did travel to some of the places as planned! then i shared with gx our future travelling plans! I hope to bring our gal to stay at HK disney resort, Taiwan's plantation area, Tokyo hello kitty land, Australia farm stay... hopefully we both get to go to Egypt, Greece... but we are gog to test run and train our child with travels to Malaysia and Thailand's island 1st!

this was the darkest squid ink risotto i have ever eaten! i like the Squid ink risotto with baby octopus very much! This risotto taste very good! love every thick, black spoonful and we can't see whats in it till we taste it! All 5 senses must be used when eating this Chef's dishes! Our tongues were black! i played with the ink on my plate... drew a heart on my plate!

I took the menu so that i can remember the name of the dishes we had... but i didnt take the name of the fish dish! the fish came with dongfen which is placed below the fish. the next dish was one of our most favourite that nite! Duck leg confit with mum's yam cake & plum mustard was clearly one of the dish we will remember as it taste very nice! every spoon must have abit of everything that is served on the plate to be able to taste the flavour the chef wants you to experience! thou the plates looked bigger than the food itself, we were pretty filled.

I ordered another drink, lychee martini! my first sip was strong as i prob drank quite abit of the liqour! its been so long since i took alcohol! to say the truth, i didnt like it! what happen to my love for drinks? maybe i was still being very careful as i am still breastfeeding... then came the surprise arrangement. i did mention that we are celebrating our wedding anniversary so that they can arrange a nice quiet corner for us. they served their dark lava chocolate gateau with flambe banana, lit up with a pretty pink candle and the staff wished us happy anniversary! i like nice touches as i think its pretty important to pay attention to the smallest details... i really think the colour of the candle matters! the chocolate lava is thick and rich but its ok only as i was more drawn to the other dessert that was served on the chef tasting menu!

Pandan infused panna cotta with gula melaka. With the first look at it, it looks pale compared to the lava chocolate dessert, but when we had our 1st spoonful, i liked it and so did gx! maybe we were looking for new taste like the other dishes we had! but we really like it alot! i like the texture of the panna cotta and most of all its a different taste from the usual italian restaurants. i got a bad habit... when i know how to make it... i dun order the dessert anymore unless its said to be really good or different! Althou we were very full.... i wanted to try the Wild Rocket strawberry cheesecake which is always recommended on articles. gx told me to try it when we come back the next visit... but i wanted to try and i just have to try it! he knows how it works... so i ordered! to my surprise, it came in a glass. the dessert was layered in a glass, digestive crumbs, cheese and strawberry. the strawberry seems to be the one i have in a jar in my fridge and i still like the pandan panna cotta as its more special in my view... but dun be mistaken, the desserts are still very good but i really like the unusual dessert better, esp when u can't find it elsewhere!

the nice "manager" was nice to offer to take a shot for us. the staff are all very friendly and he chatted with us. we talked about our little gal and about the local school learning system... stressing that nowdays children don't enjoy or seriuosly in our view, dun have much childhood unlike our times. we were the last couple to leave as we were having a good time chatting with him. i like the place when its quieter and was glad that the doctors didnt stay longer than their dishes! so we still managed to enjoy our dinner in a nice ambience. i hope we can go back soon to try out the other dishes... but i know it won't be too soon thou! wonder when will be my next couple niteout! another nice gesture from the restaurant... the lava cake was on the house. Sweet and i apprecitate it!
