first of all i want to let baby r read this in future... Thanks to Helen with her words of wisdom for my baby R! what she wrote is something important and i hope baby R would grow up to be. from aunty Helen to you Baby R - "very touching post... Happy birthday Rachel.. must be filial to mummy and daddy next time ok."
on the last nite before she turns 1, uncle Ray and Gugu, took some photos with her. Too bad that Uncle Ray had to work and he won't be joining us for baby R's bdae dinner. They gave baby R a very nicely decorated envelope with some $ for me to shop for baby r. they didnt know what to get for her as she has many new toys and clothings. love the little details on the drawins! Daddy had dinner with clients and he was very late when he got home. So we planned a early morning chat if baby R gets up!
On the day she turned one. she woke up very early. 6.50am. she got up 5mins before my alarm was to go off! i quickly on the com and msg daddy that we are on! baby R was excited when she saw daddy on the screen! it has been 2-3 days since she saw papa! she grinned and we sang her a bdae song! she loved it! she smiled so sweetly! daddy was kinda sad looking before we off the screen.... he typed us a message before he log off....
i was not feeling well. timing was kinda weird. i had cramps on her bdae and it was bad. Pils rested and didnt go to work to be with little baby R. she is no longer a baby as i read. 12months and above is called toddler! next rank! but still she will be my baby... my little Ms Pipi! fairly a slow day as both of us woke up, she had milk and we slept till almost 11am! then we prep to go pick up her bdae cake, i chose the design but Ah Gong + Ah Ma gave it to baby R as her 1st birthday present!
did our prayer and she got to eat her favourite snack - BAO! baby R now like to mimic what we do! she has been taking paperbags, our handbags and slinging it over her shoulders. when Ah G + Ah M asked her how old she is and she mimic them when they showed 1 with their index finger! it felt great that she could do that!she even know how to extend her family hugs to Ah G + Ah M! pulling her grandpa's head to hers while holding onto grandma's shoulders! sweet little one and that made me miss daddy alot! while she napped in the afternoon and my mil rested too as she wasnt feeling too good.... i finally sat down to load up the many pics taken and PS by me onto FB.... its crazy and slow process esp tagging.... but i have to do it to thank the people who came to the party!
when the clock strike 6pm.... RUSH! mad rush to get the bdae gal ready for her dinner with all her family members! last minute decision to put up the bdae banner i ordered! with my sil's help when she got home from work, we created a nicer setting for the cake-cutting ceremony! Glad that my mils told us to go ahead to put it up as it was perfect that i have all the characters that she know for her very 1st year all gathered together for her 1st birthday! you will know why as you read on...
so glad i got the banners and it came on time! these were baby R's friends when she was a few months old as she loves looking at the pooh bear and friends mobile every afternoon! that mobile kept her very occupied and it never fails to amaze her! also she has them on the puzzle mat i bought for her! with the colourful backdrop it helped to bring a happier mood and it felt more like a party for her! she liked the wall decor alot!
Both sets of grandparents gave baby R angbaos. So did my sis and my sil. Bro+Cam bot her a dress and with the angbao $ from sil i chanced upon a minnie mouse trolley playset that i had to have! so lucky as it was a new item in the shop! baby R loves it but i told her that she has to wait for Uncle Ray and Gugu to be around before she can open it up! With some of the angbao $ from my side, i got her a keyboard! baby R was really excited about the keyboard when i brought it home a few days before the party! she kept crawling to the box and she tried to open the box!
when i was looking for the tinkebell caketopper, i saw other characters cake topper and i got some of them, those that baby r knows. I was not even sure when i am going to use them.... cos i rather have them on hand then they go out of stock and i have to find them all over again! i started to browse for the figure 1 cake. i tot it would be nice to have a number 1 cake as in this whole life.... the number 1 is now or never! when i saw the design from bengawan solo... the idea i was toying with will prob work with this cake. i wanted all the characters that she like during her 1st year to be on the cake!
i had leftover fondant and i wanted to make baby R's name for the cake! the day before nesa came over to give me a hand! thanks to nesa who spent an afternoon with me shopping at tpy central and i managed to get this top as i couldnt find anything and not black from my wardrobe to wear for baby R's birthday! i am glad

Baby R knows her Sesame Street character well and recently she got to watch alittle of Mickey Playhouse. She loves all the characters and so i decided to make all the characters appear on her 1st bdae cake! she loves the hello kitty blanky so i used another kitty that i got from mcdonalds for her bdae cake! everyday she would drop 2 $1 coin into a pooh bear piggy bank so i got her a pooh bear candles with a number 1 on top of pooh's honey pot and a present! there was one character that i couldnt find.... Baby R's favourite of them all.... STITCH!

first i must say many thanks to aunty dapdap! dap tried to help me look for Stitch plastic figurine. she found a set of 6 and that cost about $36? all sort of Stitch in different outfit. but when i sat down to think about it, what daddy should get for baby R, he won't be there at the cakecutting but he should still give her a present.... so i tot of the HUGE stitch that baby R always hug when she and daddy goes to the toy section! told daddy since i can't find a small stitch.... and baby R love Stitch so much as we do.... why not get her the largest of them all as a present for her! daddy agreed but he didnt expect it to be that huge taking up almost the whole width of his mattress!

**baby r loves the birthday song! she know somehow its special. she loves watching people sing the song to her but she gets rather shy when many people sings to her! this little girl knew what to do! she took the cake knife and she held it with me and she pushed the knife into the cut with her own strength! i am glad that i buy things when i see them thou not knowing when i will get to use it ... i love the skinny but tall candle that i got 2 years back! perfect for my baby R's bdae cake!
dinner was at the new Soup Restaurant at tpy central!
their private room is still under construction and we had to take 2 separate tables. while one table tried to pacify and entertain the little one, the other table was discussing the upcoming world cup. baby r was given white rice which she loves having when we are out for dinner and prob the only thing that she can have... and i prep rice crisps for her. i ordered the dishes that i usually have. when we got to know for sure baby r was a girl, after the scan, gx brought me to Soup Restaurant to celebrate .... i missed my dear alot.
thanks to my aunt M for the skirt! the present was perfect for baby r and she looked so dainty in it. Ah ma loves baby R in white and baby pink! baby r now likes to send flying kisses before she waves goodbye. but so far her hands would stay very near her mouth, she would tap on her lips a few times, making a muah muah sound. she made everyone very happy with her goodbyes!
how big is stitch? thou she is so much smaller, she loves to grab stitch! she didnt let me have stitch for a pic! i had to borrow it and quickly return it to her! then it was time for the cake! the 2.5kg cake is so difficult to keep! we had to slice it up into smaller chunks to give away! baby R had little of her own bdae cake, fed by her dearest Ah Gong while Ah Ma carried her!
thou daddy wasnt with us, he was dearly missed by us and i know he would love to be with us on Baby R's special day. Papa said that when he is back, he will give baby R a surprise. He would have a mini celebration with baby R and me. so looking forward to our little family gathering. Glad i got her the HUGE Stitch! think i made baby R's day and whats more its from her dearest wonderful Papa! as for me i gave her a turtle a month ago as her bdae present. she named it muah muah!
