never have i heard my gx ever complain about anyone... but he did so just yesterday night... he met someone who was TAO and he told me the person was "a faked banana and eats potato"... i told him alot of people say my english sounds too angmo oso... bet alot of people thinks that i faked it too... he told me that i sound like this and i am being myself all the time not like i only do it for that moment... then he say i am a potato... cos i am starting to look like one! EVIL! told him that if i am MRS potato then he is MR potato! When i get back to HK (haha which i planned in 3 years time) i hope that i can get another Potato toy! cos i want to make a pair!
blueberry + apple brown rice cereal
On Thursday 28th January 2010, i started baby r on AFTERNOON SNACK TIME! mil reminded me that baby r should be taking porridge in the afternoon... i pulled out my books and read on it. Yes, its time to feed her early dinner... but i didnt want to start her immediately on porridge... so i wanted her to have another round of brown rice cereal and i call this afternoon snack time! i tried another variation for the apple puree. Blueberry apple sauce!
the next time round i do this for baby r, i would make this on the very day i make the fresh apple puree! cos it was too watery when i boiled the blueberry separately with additional water. but making it for the 1st time, boiling the blueberry separetly, i got to see how the berries gave out the beautiful red and became softer! Next time i will try to boil the apples with the pears and half way thru take it our and scoop the soften flesh and boil with the blueberries with maybe alittle of the apples+pear drink... and serve it to baby straight away! regretted mixing the brown rice cereal with water... making it more watery and lack in taste! From now on, i will use milk everytime i make cereal! baby r didnt like the texture but she loves the combination as she managed to almost finish the cereal... if she dun anything, something is bothering her during the feed or if she is filled, she would not continue to take anymore and if you dun stop trying to feed her... she would start to Booooooo all the stuff out from her little mouth and it lands all over whoever is feeding her! just have to get the consistency right for baby r! When baby r is much older, i would give her the blueberries raw as its the best way to get the full range of health benefits from it!
One serving of blueberries provides as many antioxidants as 5 servings of broccoli, apples or carrots! It carries Ellagic acid which is an antioxidant that is thought to prevent the development of cancer. Blueberries also contain the antioxidant anthocyanins which strengthen blood capilllaries, improving circulation and helping to transport nutrients around the body - probably one of the reasons blueberries can enhance eyesight and protect against dementia, heart diesease and strokes. Also it has an anti-inflammatory effect on the body's tissues and are rich in tannins, which fight the bacteria that cause urinary tract infections. Eat blueberries 3 or 4 times a week for full immunity-boosting benefits.
apple+banana brown rice cereal
Made some apple puree to feed baby r on Wednesday. added 2 extra apples to make more purees as i wanted to create variations baby r! kept 2 little containers for the next day's brown rice cereal! for the morning i added bananas to the apple puree! i reduce the amount of apple puree and banana as baby r won't be able to finish it and it would be too much fruits in the cereal! i used 1+half chinese soup spoon of cereal. at 7 months old, thats a good amount of cereal with puree that baby r is able to finish for now. she liked it and finished the cereal really quickly! she finished 2 bottle of apple and pear drink by afternoon!
Apple is an effective cleansing tool for the body! Pectin, a form of fibre found in apples binds with cholestrol and toxins, speeding their excretion. Apples can help to ease allergic reactions and inflammatory conditions such as arthritis and it also helps the body to use energy efficiently. Apples can also help to improve lung function!
Banana contain high levels of B-vitamins which the body needs to produce energy. Vit B5 aids the formation of the immune system's killer cells and B6 which improves the body's ability to clear away waste matter. Bananas are also a good source of Vit C and manganese which works together to produce virus-fighting substances interferon. Its also dense in fibre and potassium which regulates body fluids and nerve function.
salmon porridge
Started baby r on Salmon on Thursday 28th January 2010. She likes it and finished the whole pot of porridge! the price of the salmon was the same as the cod fish. but i only use one piece of salmon compared to 2 pieces of cod for the porridge. after flaking the salmon, i had so much fish for the porridge. so one piece would be enough! also cos i bought this salmon much earlier in the week, it was kept frozen as a piece. then when i took it out to cut it up... i managed to take off the skin easily! thus saving my time scraping off the scales!
i had been boiling the fish in water then i added the stock which then i ended up with watery porridge which baby r didnt like. she like her porridge thick. so when i cod the salmon, i simply put the fish into the stock and cooked it. then i take out the fish to cool it before flaking it. i continued to cook the porridge. before hand i would have blanched and pureed the spinach and i add it to the stock. off the fire when the porridge is ready and after i flaked the fish, i added it with my fingers feeling it for fish bones and give it a good stir before serving baby r!
Glad baby r loves salmon. Salmon is an oily fish just like cod fish. when baby r turns 8 months old, i will be trying out new dishes and ones would be potato with salmon! when she is much older, i would make her salmon with white sauce! i would have some of it too! mil is not in favour of salmon as she personally dun like the taste of it.
Salmon is very high in healthy oils, which are crucial for a healthy immune system. Its an excellant source of omega-3 fatty acids which helps to regulate the activity of white blood cells and has anti-inflammatory properties. Salmon helps to protect the heart, control cholestrol and fats level. It is rich in Vit A which helps to keep the blood and nervous system healthy. Vit D which aids calcium absorption and is good for our bones!
good things from a good friend
Tuesday with Dap. 26th January 2010. dap came back from Spain and got me a bottle of Sangria! i love the bottle! if i finish the drink ( definitely will drink with dap! told her will roast some chicken wings! woooo ... nope i dun cook spanish rice but can tabao from fish and co!) i will wash the bottle and make it a serving water jug! its so pretty!

Baby r soothing herself with her drumstick... opps tiny finger!
26th January 2010. i wanted to Popeye chicken which is now available at tpy... but its so ex compared to KFC... but i didnt want to walk all the way to kfc and i went home almost without fried chicken... till i saw MOS and i ordered my ONE piece of fried chicken!
while mummy waited for the fried chicken drum .... baby r sooths herself with her DRUMSTICK! tiny finger!
i love the 1st shot of her! she frown when she saw me with the camera! then she started to ignore the camera and i love the last shot too! "ë'mmm, mummy... still taking pics of me???"
New Fruits - Papaya & Cherries!
25th January 2010. while i was busy packing up, PILs gave baby r some papaya. its the small papaya and it usually pretty sweet. sadly they were excited to feed baby r some that they didnt inform me and i didnt see baby r eating it... mil told me she scrap it for baby r and she enjoyed it...
26th January 2010. after reading the book i borrowed from my aunt. i did hunt for the book at borders but sadly they called and told me their supplier didnt have it... SCAM! they said they could bring in for me and i made a $15 deposit which they would refund me in a voucher card! ergh!!! aunt got the book from australia.... anyway the book records foods information that is good for our body immunity system! i love the book as it describe and states the goodness and gives an easy recipe to use the fruit, veg, meat and nuts. one of the fruit i got was my favourite... CHERRIES! i looked at baby r's list and she could eat these red little vitamin c cherries!
Cherries contain ellagic acid - a powerful compound that blocks an enzyme that cancer cells need in order to develop. They are also rich in anthocyanins, antioxidant substances that the body uses to help make disease-fighting chemicals, with Vit C, it aids the fight against viruses and bacteria. It has anto-inflammatory properties which ease rheumatoid arthritis and gout.
baby r LOOOOoooooOOOvvvvVVVvvvvvveeeEEssssss CHERRIES! she ran out of patience so fast, faster than i could make the cherries bits smaller for her! she kept making EEEggghhhh noises to hurry me, pushed herself up and down when i was slow! gave her 2 to start of and 3 the next day! love the smile on her face when she ate the cherries!
Popeye's favourite - Spinach!
25th January 2010. started baby r on SPINACH! plucked the leaves of a few stalks and blanch them in the pot of water over the stove. it was written in the books that this helps to reduce the oxalic acid content of the spinach, which interferes with the absorption of minerals such as iron and calcium.
it was taught in the books to chop up the leaves finely but i didnt do that... after the blanch the leaves were pretty soft. so i mashed them using the lines surface and added some stock to it. this made it easy to pour the mashed spinach into the porridge. then i add the mashed cod fish for baby r! at first baby r wasnt that keen but she ate on. on the 2nd day that i tried spinach with cod fish, she finished her porridge very quickly!
Sunday was a busy day!
it was so difficult to put baby r to sleep as she was in a playful mood for Saturday nite! the next morning, we got up early, changed and yiyi fetched us to parkway p. we went to giant and after that we went to check out shoes for mum. they went to the market area while i went to borders to look for baby feeding / recipe books.
we were out for so long and we rushed back as i had to prep baby r and myself for a farewell party. thou i was in a rush, i couldnt forego drinking the banana milkshake! i love bananas! esp when i didnt have it during the whole of my pregancy! Never try banana milkshake before and i MUST HAVE IT! So i got gx to wait while i have my share of banana milkshake and no regrets! its GOOD! not sure how many bananas were used for a glass. put the bananas thru the processor and top it up with cold fresh milk and stir well! i gave gx 2 sips and when he got a glass from mum, i took more from him when i finished my own!
head to gx's fren's condo at changi. we didnt know where the place was and we were searching for the blk... and then we hit the curb... argh... found the place... and got a scare as we tot we had to climb 4 storeys! the lift was at the basement level... it was a very pretty designer house! they had a few designer pieces and it had the LESS IS MORE concept. not sure what the gf does but i think she has some art background just like gx's fren. it was well designed and it suits the couple alot. baby r and i were on the sofa and she wanted to get off it to be on the ground just like the other 2 gals... but when she got onto the mat, i noticed her feet looked odd... her little tiny toes were all curled up! daddy tried to make her relax but it remained curled! we ate and talked and i found out more about their furnitures. gx's fren is leaving for sydney to study for a year. the whole family will be there with him. how i wish i can be an expat wife too!
after the bump on the curb incident, thou nothing major happened... we put baby r into her car seat for the 1st time. she didnt look happy... its become difficult to carry her as she wiggles too much at a fast and furiuos speed. i do miss hugging her but its safer for her and myself. best of all, i have both my hands free to do something like make milk without struggling! she looked pretty grouchy as i think she didnt like to be tied down.... but it gave her a good time to rest! she slept all the way while we drove to orchard. then when we were reversing the car out of the dead end car park at shaw... we HIT and bump into the fire hose! gx and i got shocked and lucky baby r was in the car seat and she was not affected, still asleep. i was glad she was in the car seat! lucky nothing much happened to the car except some colour got scraped... well as gx was cleaning the car, a family walked past us and we got the lot after they left. shopped for 3-4hours finding the right items to clear the vouchers... in the end we got an iron for the IRON MAN and a tiger hot water flask for baby r. as for me, i got XLB for dinner!
CRABssssss & Dressessss!!!
everyone was coming for dinner and mum cooked alot of food. she steamed some of the waxed meats she bought. it was very nice! as i grow older, i start to appreciate the things i didnt know how to enjoy when i was young. the curry fish was good! to top it off... crab again! 3Xs in a week! but i skipped the crabs as i was really filled with mum's cooking!
baby r loves her little aunts and uncle's presence! when Cousins L both came in, her little face had a wide smile! she was tired from her swim ordeal but she wanted to play with the little ones! she kept clapping her hands! Aunt O passed me a bag and it was filled with pretty clothings all for baby r! Baby r is so lucky! they came in a set of 2 and in the same theme. flowers, butterflies and cherries! baby r is very lucky!
i have already prep baby r's CNY clothings and with these additional pieces, i have enough to change her when she gets too sweaty or she gets herself wet with her saliva or milk! i got sis to get more clothings from HK for baby r... crazy? baby r lacks home clothings esp tees... i dun think i want her to wear these pretty dresses at home!
