29th April 2010 Thursday - i was trying to get baby r to sleep and she kept throwing her pacifier out, aiming for the hole in the header board! i got alittle impatient and decided to teach her a lesson. i sneaked the pacifier out from the hole when she was not looking and asked her to where is her pacifier. she put her hand into the hole but could not feel the pacifier and she looked at me worried. she gestured with her hands "where"? i told her she threw out her pacifier so many times that the pacifier got angry and it ran away. MEAN MUM! try picking up and washing it a few times and the moment baby r get it, she stands up and out pops the pacifier.... she got upset and she search around her and under the pillows where she loves to hide her pacifier too.... she couldnt find it and kept gesturing to me "Where".
i told her pacifier not coming back to her. she has to do without one tonite as she has lost 2 others and the other one in the kitchen cannot be found too... she reluctantly put her head down, feeling down, she lie down and got up again to feel the hole.... she tried to sleep and she cried alittle. i told her its not coming back.... pretty insistant as i really want her to stop away as her teeth is sprouting. i also met a mum at fondant class who told me she just plug it out and never give for a nite, let her son cry thru and he stopped.... i got my courage to try cos it worked for that pretty mum. she fell asleep after she got really tired, she slept without her pacifier but not long, she cried in her sleep. She cried so loud and woke up being so upset, seeing her so poor thing, i gave her the pacifier and she sucked on it sooooo hard and didnt let go even when she was in deep sleep... i tot what i did foiled everything as she is now too afraid to let it go... in case it goes missing again!
30th April 2010 Friday - told my mil about the incident. we still gave in to baby r as we want her to nap. at nite at my mums, i had to give it to her as she was very active and being in a new place, it made it harder for her to settle into bed... so she had it for another nite. she had it so tight that i couldnt take it off even when she was in deep sleep. think she still remembered the "pacifier run-away incident"! when she dropped her pacifier in the wee hours, she cried so loudly! she must have tot her pacifier ran away.... once i found it under her body, popped it in, i couldnt get it out. i tot i was doomed!
1st-2nd May 2010 - i stopped talking to her about the pacifier as i dun want her to be scared.... so i got daddy to tell her why she should stop using the pacifier. daddy told her why we have teeth - so we can eat lots of nice food. To have nice teeth, she cannot use pacifier anymore. daddy counted with her, how many teeth and say she has to have more teeth so that she can eat many more new kinds of food. Thou daddy make an effort to tell her several times, she was still taking the pacifier.... at the May 2nd wedding, she got alittle scared when everyone clapped for the wedding couple that i had to give in to her to calm her down. funny thing with baby R was, she wasnt afraid of the loud yumsheng but afraid everytime everyone claps! She isnt afraid when the thunder roars!
3rd May 2010 Monday - Mil was supportive of our "No Pacifier Campaign". Mil tried to make her nap, swaying her as usual but without the pacifier... it worked. she napped in the afternoon without it too. but she was soooo cute.... there were moments where she pretended she had the pacifier in her mouth! nite was the challenge. after a long time allowing her to do whatever she wanted on the bed, tired but she had it to help her sleep but i took it away when it popped out. in the wee hours she cried and she had it once more.
4th May 2010 Tuesday - again for naptimes thru the day... she managed without it. At nite, i massaged her many more times than usual and it got her very comfortable and sleepy.... she slept without it!
5th May 2010 Wednesday - she woke up for milk at 6am and got really awake cos daddy alarm kept going off! she didnt nap till about 9am and she got so tired and she didnt need it. afternoon nap was without it and i crossed my fingers for the nite.... i did the same thing, giving her longer massages, let her roll all over, climb the headboard and massage her again till she got tired and she slept soundly without it! told daddy about it and we kept our fingers crossed... i really hope she pass the 48hours test!
6th May 2010 Thursday - BABY R did it! She is OFFICIALLY off her pacifier! daddy is happy and Mil is so glad! I AM THRILLED as i dun want to use bitter stuff on her pacifier to make her hate and stop using the pacifier. but that method has worked for my little cousins and some of my friends used that method too. I am just lucky! Somehow, she decided to stop and i didnt need to use any bitter stuff on her pacifier. I am thankful for a supportive hubby and MIL who helped Baby R forget about her pacifier! Very proud of my gal! Fingers crossed that we can say a final goodbye to pacifier days!
searched my albums and this is the last shot i had her with a pacifier
