after we got home from our outing, we rest less than 2hours+, everyone had to wake up naps, drop everything cos we needed to Get ready for the party! baby r was so stubborn, she didnt nap. slept alittle during the car ride home and she was awake but alittle grouchy! she was definitely in a better mood when we got her changed! she was wondering, frowning when she saw that mummy, daddy, ah gong & ah ma was already in pretty clothings! she didnt get to see gugu as sil was still in the room.
the dress baby r's wearing is from my aunt M. she bought this as a xmas gift and it fitted her perfectly for the occasion! baby r liked what she was wearing when we brought her to the mirror, she smiled! lucky her, got an angbao from ah gong, the bdae boy! My fil say must give baby r as she too turned 10mths old on the same day he is 60!
the dinner was at Shaw's Teochew Restaurant. we were served GongFu tea and this was light at first and the tea was heavier when shallowing, alit bitter! the presentation of the soutao bao was ok, the best presentation was at Noble house, my mum's chinese 59th bdae. someone's missing from the family photo? Baby R fell asleep during the car ride and she only woke up when the 3rd dish was served.
once she was awake, she didnt want to sit in the pram. she wanted to join us at the table and she wanted to eat! prep lots of her carrot crackers and rice crisp but she was not used to me giving her little bits and pieces. she was more used to holding onto the whole cracker and biting it down on her own. she was so demanding when she was done with the little pieces she had on her plate! we were lucky to have TV in the room thou she didnt watch it all the time, Madadasca took some of her attention away!
we were recommended by a friend to try the cold flower crab. Overprized and it was normal, not at all anywhere near fantastic. the crab wasnt that sweet and it cost $150. but the other cold dish, pork knuckle was nice. this cost only $6.80! MiL told us one teochew dish which is a must is goosemeat.... they dun serve that but we had teochew sliced soya duck which was ok.
No goosemeat, so gx ordered another recommended must have - braised gooseweb. Mil didnt touch the dish at all! it was quite nice as long as dun let imagination run wild! the scallop egg white dish was a disappointment! Prima revolving tower restaurant is way so much better! the baked lobster noodle has mixed reviews. we had it in butter sauce. i liked it but wished the noodles were the crunchy kind usually served with seafood! that would have been a plus point but it wasnt that bad. some find the sauce a odd combi with the noodles.
they gave us some fried water chestnut cake but this was cold... can't help thinking if these were leftovers from the dimsum session in the afternoon. the yam paste was way too thick and dry. not nice. non of us liked it and it was alittle too sweet! the service we had was very good thou. the lady who served us was very attentive! she got me a box of tissue when i was trying to find my wet wipes to clean baby r's messy hands! she had other moments that left us very good impression. fil gave her an angbao as tip.
baby r's patience was thin and we took turns to carry her and i even did a little dance number with my gal. she sat on both daddy and mummy' shoulder and played so hard that she got so warm that she didnt need her cardigan at all. this little cheeky gal brought smiles to everyone's face esp ah gong's! sil got goodwood park's durian cake. once the cake was brought into the room, the whole room smells of durian!
little one clapped her hands once we started singing the Happy Bdae song! she prob remember her past 2 experience from my sis bdae and she kept clapping as we sang both english and mandrin version of the song! it made it so fun to sing the bdae song, watching her little tiny hands at action! see daddy went from one place to the other corner to catch baby r's expressions! i was thankful to the manager who came in with the cake and she offered to help me take shots so that i can be part of the fun!
thou the family pic is alittle blur, still thankful to the helpful crew. this cake makes the day! its so nice and rich! the dinner was a present from us to fil and sil+bf gave fil a belt and of cos the yummy durian cake as present! it was a tiring day but it was nice to have dinner together on a Saturday, celebrating with a grandchild this year prob makes my fil a very happy 60 years old grandpa.
