Its not time yet! but who knows whats gog to happen in the next 12hours!

I am not into labour yet! No contractions yet!
Helen, my fren asked why am i missing for so long on my blog. She tot i had given birth and is busy with my new motherhood life! I was in a very lazy mood! Nuah on the couch for hours and i have no complaints as i just feel restless! but i wasnt all lazy! i was actually tired out because i started looking into many others' baking and cooking blogs! i can sit fro hours and just go thru every single entry and dun realise that i might have sat infront upright at my laptop for hours! I am doing fine but my baby is prob objecting that i am sitting up for too long. so the other half of the day, i rest. I started on a post to update the week last friday as i dun want to have to chase my entries! but i didnt get to finish it.... also i am reading more on labour and baby care. i am slowly down... and just playing the waiting game with my gal! will try to ask gx to post the good news when it happens.... maybe i should just type i have given birth on a draft post and just get him to hit enter? haha then at least Shanice will get first hand news from me and baby! as for now... i just finished browsing thru a beautiful baking blog and need to hurry to the gynae! besides bab is kicking me nudging me to lie down! gota go and will have to be discipline to get back to updating!!!

Gynae visit @ 37th week

Monday 18th May - told mum about the pain i suddenly had the nite before. her advice was to call gynae and ask him for opinion. so i did and his advice was to go down to see him to find out exactly whats happening inside. mum's worried as she said that last trimester is very crucial and unpredictable. thru the morning, baby didnt move much... worrying! so i called gx hoping that his voice will make baby move but he didnt pick up. when he called back, after his first sentence, the thunder sounded and either his voice or the thunder woke her up! i saw the lightning but i didnt warn her as i wanted her to move! mean right but i needed to know she's fine and she gota move to let me know!!! she is pretty afraid of the thunder esp during the thunderstorm 2weeks ago! she squirmed in me non-stop till i woke up to comfort her!

mil rushed home from her prayers for gx's grandma to go down to the gynae with me. she was worried as it was raining very heavily. so we went down, had our temperture taken and filled up a form before allowed to go into the hospital. not many patients at gynae and as i made my appointment earlier i only had to wait awhile. little one was excited as she kept moving before we were called into the room! 1st thing my gynae said to my mil when i introduced her - wah! your mil so young! yes indeed! she is very young!

according to my gynae, where i had the pain was caused by my stomach. i was either too hungry, too full or ate too fast and maybe with the baby pushing up on my stomach, thats what caused the pain! YES... i ate too full and had a hard time sitting and lying down! and prob baby did pushed cos gx did say baby had no space after i ate so full!!! so mystery solved.

did a scan and it was mil's first time looking at scans and of cos looking at her grandchild. she was trying to figure as much what was shown on the screen! she said my doctor was too fast! little one has been nudging me with her left thigh and knee! cos i asked the doc to scan the part she always pops out! she is about 3.1kg and i lost 500g. but the gynae still warns me about my weight and food intake! he said the lost of 500g is from my feet! cos they are less swollen now! ermmm.... i still like this gynae of mine cos he is pretty humourous and my mil find him very friendly and smiley! mil say that he looks more like a friendly biz man than a gynae!

so baby is well and gynae answered some of my enquiry about pain and baby is choosing to move down slowly... so dun think i will get a taurus baby... cos she only got today and tomolo to come out! then went down to parentcraft centre to enquire the bottlecaps for a friend. saw Mrs Wong and i introduced mil to her. Love her voice! always so calming and she touched my tummy and talked to baby!

she told baby to choose a good time to come out! and funny thing she asked baby "you are not waiting to eat dumplings before coming out right?" mil say that would be in 2 weeks time on the 28th may! mil told me later that she had seen Mrs W on tv programme before and is amazed how she handles baby with one hand and able to do so much with the other hand to either shower, change or feed the baby! we head home after showing mil briefly where i need to register myself on labour day and where they can wait and have a quick bite in the hospital.

mil say that tmc didnt looked and feel like a hospital, more like a shopping mall. told her she haven seen the corridor of the rooms (they prohibited access to non-visitors to protect the patients due to the flu outbreak) i told her the corridor looks like hotel's. i was thankful that she came along with me as its always nice to have company.

Gx still emphasis to baby that she should wait till after Saturday! cos we have a party to go too! i told gx what Mrs W said and i even told him maybe i should just go get dumplings and tell our little one - here's the dumpling! maybe she will be out tomolo?

after having our dinner at lor 8 (kueychap), which we didnt have eatouts on many mondays already, we head home and little one got everyone busy! busy thinking of a chinese name for her! i endured the heat and sat thru to object to most of the characters chosen! and gosh how some characters sound terrible when translated in teochew!!! then i lie down while sil and gx was busy looking for alternative characters for certain sound. baby moved and we told her to let aunt feel her. as usual she was cheeky and didnt do as told! then we bribed her with mangoes! she still didnt do it and all 3 of us teased her cheeky and she freeze and didnt move for quite some time. after talking to her she started moving and even gx got to feel her quite a bit for awhile and i asked her to nudge aunt and this time she did so! sil was thrilled! and of cos we praised her for being a good gal!

i was pretty tired after ther whole day even thou i lie down so long before gog to the gynae and i even had a short nap after gynae! doc told my mil that i only need to eat 3 meals a day, just mostly meat, veg and fruits. Also i need to at least lie down 2-3hours in the afternoon! he also predicts that it won't be this week that baby is gog to be out... most likely after this week...

36th week moving into 37th week!

At gynae this week, doc told me baby has moved downwards! he told me to rest in bed and only can walk 30mins a day! REALLY! he say 30mins thats it! i replied telling him "my hubby won't believe!" he said my feet is swollen but i think its still ok as my aunt k's leg was much worse than mine! but i am gog try to listen as much, to rest and also obey my mum's rule of "stop running around, going everywhere!" ... i do face difficulties walking too much and i tend to buy things and carry too much... also i have been having slight pain and had to wake up to go to the loo at 3am and then suffer a short insomia period before waking up again at 5am+ to go to the loo again and then i try very hard to fall asleep again!
=
Thursday was just lazing at home the whole morning but i went out to popular to get some folders and end up with 2 new recipe books! one's chinese coolking and the other is kids cooking. after lunch, i did work hard at home clearing up and setting somethings for baby. it was tiring! the tummy is so heavy and in the way! i had hard time moving about! had late supper for dinner as gx reprimanded me for eating mcwings for dinner... so i only ate 2 out of 4 wings for dinner...
=
Friday i woke up rushing my project again! i was happy that i managed to finish almost the whole thing! then i rushed out to bring nesa who finally her exams to cityhall with me. we went to check out the donuts first and then we head to check out the photo booth. i was holding back whether to spend $200+ on making photo albums! bought cherries from jasons market and it cost me $15+++! these were red cherries and they are not as dark as the ones i had earlier on the year and not as sweet but they were good and i still consider them sweet as there is just alittle tinge of sourness!
-
evening my mood turned moody! gx had dinner appt with client. i was alone at home. then when he told me its cancelled, i was waiting for him to come home... when i called to ask where he was, he revealed to me, he's gog to have dinner with his collegues and i burst into tears! i was in a foul mood, having to spend friday alone at home! i was pissed as he only told me his plans when he was already in the car with his collegues! i dun know why, prob the hormones + foul mood, i can't stop crying! baby was affected as she moved in me and i was trying to stop sobbing. he knew i was very angry. nothing he did can applease me. i slept to stop my crying.
=
Saturday, i woke up and i didnt want to start the day in a foul mood. so i try not to be remember about the previous nite anger. i was hungry and he was more willing to get up to go get breakfast with me. then we snoozed on the sofa after the meal! then it was packed up time and i was "forced" to throw away some of my things!!! gx sent me back to mums and he left to meet up with the guys for dinner. nobody was home so i played the piano with my baby. then was so hungry that i asked mary to cook eggs for me and i realised i didnt have lunch!
-
was able to talk to mum as not many people came by for dinner that day! cousin Ben was nice to eat mc and remembered to get me a coke glass! then i gave quite abit of my cute stuff to nesa! mum made special dessert that nite! she tried making the chilled pumkin paste with black glutinous rice! loved it! it was as good as the one we ate at club chinous! except that i felt that if its chilled longer, the colder the better! when gx came to fetch me, mum gave him a bowl of dessert she saved him. i had his first scoop and i told mum that i was right! the longer she chilled the dessert the better!

as i couldn't lay my hands on a box of donuts the day before, gx got me a box! when i got home, i was hungry.... so i started nibbling on them! when i went to bed, gx and i were chatting and suddenly i told him, i was still hungry... so we got up and i went to nibble more of the donuts from J.co. happy with a filled tummy, i went to bed!

received my online spree baby products that my col V helped me ordered. lucky got cousin A to pick it up from her so that i dun have to go all the way to school to pick it up! i was so curious about the powder, that i have opened up the first bottle and i love the smell! most important thing i learnt from V is, the powder has to be talc free as talc is a cancer causing factor? alot of online shopping mum swear by the calfornia baby calendula cream. didnt open this yet but i was told by V that this is very good for baby's skin! i want to go learn baby massage after my one month confinement! Sunday 17th May - gx woke up and suddenly told me about movies plan. i had wanted to go on friday to catch midnite. he wanted to spend some time with me to make me happy and he knew i wanted to watch angels and demons. so after sending mil to work, we quickly popped by balestier shaw cinema to check out the timing. thanks to aunt A's xmas present, we watched the movie for free! with 20mins before the show starts, we ate at the only eating place at the shopping mall - Mcdonalds! then rushed up and was in time to catch trailers!
-
the movie is not as exciting as the da vinci code. more artwork in this movie and we got to see the places we visited when we were in Rome and Vatican. thou i read both books before watching both movies, A&D seems to lack the rush DVC had. baby did moved when i was watching the movie and i was glad she endure the uncomfortable position for 2hours! but we didnt end there!
right after our 1st movie, we head to the ticketing booth and enquired for the next show. again we had 20mins to stretch out before catching wolverine. gx has been wanting to watch this! after the toilet break and getting our huge sweet popcorn and nachos, we were back in the cinema again! this time, i just drank the coke as i was getting thirsty after eating the tidbits! i tot this show was better and was glad we watch A&D first, the slower pace show than a faster pace show to keep me awake! at one point, baby gave me a super nudge! protest? after the show, we head to the crowded ntuc and did our sunday grocery. went home gx immediately snoozed for 40mins and he got up to cook a big pot of noodles for dinner. then we caught our next movie on tv. Monster inc. and caught the bike race during the commercials. gx managed to catch Rossi falling off his bike!
-
half way through the movie, i suddenly grab gx hard very hard and scream! i was in excruciating pain! i was lying down as i was so filled that sitting up made me very uncomfortable. i was lying down with alittle more comfort and suddenly i felt a sharp pain in my tummy, like somthing in my tummy was twisted! then after calming down with deep breathing. the pain subsided... i was so tired after that sudden pull! gog to call gynae later to ask him if its normal...

i was pretty excited when i read in the papers that a Singaporean made it to Martha Stewarts' show! So i just searched and found the video where KF Seetoh taught Martha S, to cook laska! so lucky of KF Seetoh to be able to meet MS in person! envy! wonder when she comes to singapore, will i get to meet her! she's my idol! also if she comes, i can get mum to cook for her or bring her to try my fil's beef noodles! haha!!! i am definitely day-dreaming! anyway i added the link for the video KF Seetoh on MS programme below!

Orange Jello Cheesecake!

Made this for the first time with dap! the blender aunt K gave me was great! it ground all the digestive biscuit so fine for the base of the cheesecake! love the machine! this cake is easy but takes up alot of time as it needs time to freeze each layer before layering the next.

as the recipe calls for 300gm biscuit, i didnt want to keep any leftovers, so we just grind all 400gms... and its too thick! i would it if the cheeselayer was thicker! more cheese would be nice! as for the fruit layer, i opened 2 cans of mandrin slices and we just layer the whole cake! then we didnt finished using the jello as we ran out of space!

after a couple of hours, we finally took the cake out at 8+pm and sliced it up and had our first taste of our orange jello cheesecake! i really wished we had more cheese and all i can actually taste was more of the base and jello! need to work out the recipe to my liking! but i still liked it, it was not too bad! i am happy to have made this with dap!

after another couple of hours of chilling the cheesecake in the fridge, i took it out at 11+pm. i used one of my new baking buy - the dual heartshaped cutter! i got these when i was with tab at biy. love that the heartshaped was not the normal symetrical ones. was pretty nervous if the cake would stand on its own! i left it on the plate for a while before pushing the 1st heart out!

was happy that the first heart i pushed out stood firmly on the plate! but alittle of the base was chipping off and i tugged it back to support the cake! i loved the shape of the cake! then i popped the other cake on the same plate and was glad it slide out beautifully! the next time round, i mit not make this orange version of jello cheesecake anymore... i will be trying out the strawberry version and i think it would love great when its cut out with the heartshaped cutter!

when gx reached home after his class, i surprised him with the heartshaped orange jello cheesecake! thou he is tired, he was nice to endure the heat and allowed me to take a photo of him and the cheesecake! when we shared this with my pil and sil, we are always amused when gx cut thru the layers of the cake! cos when he reach the base layer, he had to use more strength and with a loud tap on the plate before he could spoon the cake for each one of us!

it was cooling to eat this cake as the jello and cheesecake is cold! but i find the orange jello top very orangy taste and sort of covered the cheese layer flavour! will be trying the strawberry version soon! just hope baby can wait a few days more! cos i want to make the strawberry jello cheesecake with nesa when she finish her exam papers!

36th Week! Counting down starts now!

35th week was a busy week. a week that i felt very charged and tired at the same time. I am ever excited to prep for parties so i was filled with energy but tired by the end of the day with too much walking and carrying! friday was great as i baked with my good fren tab for the first time and was glad my cousin A joined us in making our first carrot cake! all who ate our carrot cake had praises! saturday party went well and i did mango sago for the first time and i need to improve on it, making it less milky! Sunday was a simple mothers day but i was happy with the porridge and avocado mum made! think both mums were happy with my bake!
-
but my mum's day ended with my baby actively moving non-stop in me and seems to be pushing herself down! it even hurts when i was lying down! she continously moved and i struggled out to call gx for help! when he places his hands on her and ask her to move gentlely, she stopped struggling! there were slight pulls on the sides of my tummy! Also i woke up at 3am+ and then had difficulty sleeping and kept waking up at 5am+, dose off and then i was awake again till gx went to work and i slept till 9+am on Monday!
*
Week 36th - woke up to continue sorting out my whole big bag of cds! music, images, dvds... didnt do much as i was feeling tired and still feeling little pulls once in awhile! then again woke up to a tuesday morning at 3am+! then suffer insomia and restless sleep... even thou raining, met cousin A to go to a new baking store in kallang. i found the information on this lady's blog. mainly there to get my Valrhona Ivory chocolates but these are some items i got from her shop!

when i saw the turquoise "quackquack" that what i call the silicon potholder, i had to have it! love the colour! then i loved the ribbons i saw, thou i dun know how i would want to use it yet for my baby gal! the best find, thou not very original, the hello kitty jelly moulds! my kido cousins and of cos in future, my baby gal is definitely gog to love jelly that these mould churn out!

thank goodness the rain stopped and we head down to PS. then we had our late lunch at Lao Beijing. We ate the hi-tea which was at $10.80 per pax. the bill came up to be $13 each. variety is not over the moon, but for the price, i find that the dishes served was reasonable. it was not too bad except that i wished the guotia, jiaozi would be served hotter! it was lukewarm and very quickly it turn cold. the XLB was at least hotter when we ate it once it land on the table! didnt fancy any of the noodles we ordered. cousin A loves the custard bun while i love the chong you bing, the spring onion pancakes! it was cooling to have 2 rounds of the almond jelly with longan in bewteen the savoury and we had a bowl of black sesame paste before we left but i personally find this too sweet. head to daiso and got some more baking stuff and 4 packets of caramel corn! bought wrappers to wrap up Ly and nesa's presents too!

Dap popped by as she had off day. at the jap fair she helped me get the jap miso-based ramen before popping by to my place. i had to stay at home to watch the aircon being repaired. then we nuah and chatted. we decided to try out the cheesecake recipe i found on Aunt Y's blog!
while waiting for the cheesecake base to chill before layering the next layer, we enjoyed the cool, mango pudding and mango sago dessert she bought! before we started, baby was moving and seems excited and i told her to hi-5 dap then she get to eat the mando desserts and sure she did as dap felt my little baby nudge her palm so hard! my baby loves mango! she likes sweets treats!
then when we were waiting for the cheese layer to chill, i finally opened up my expensive strawberry from Italy to give her a treat! i drizzled these lovely strawberries over 2 scoops of vanilla ice-cream and she loved it! i was a good gal! i didnt eat any of the ice-cream, wanted to be good with my diet but i had a small piece of strawberry in my mouth! had to have one at least!
